About the Job:
To manage and Ensure Marine Units Mechanical, Electric and Electronic components remain operational in efficient and profitable manner during the lifetime of the unit. Source and Allocate the necessary resources as required to ensure Marine unit remains operational Safely, Economically and Efficiently. To ensure that engineering operations are carried out at best practice according to Manufacturers recommendations, class and flag state requirement and companys standards, Ensure Planned maintenance system is effectively applied and complied with. Plan and execute Dry Docking of marine Units.
Job Specific Accountabilities Part 1:
To Oversee Marine Units and ensure they are maintained according to manufacturers instructions,
Ensure sufficient level of competent Personnel are available on board to maintain units machinery equipment and barge fabric in economic and profitable manner with no adverse effect on the employees, community and environment.
To strive with a firm commitment for sustainable development and continual improvement to set and meet higher standards in environmental and safety performance.
Ensure jack up barge units are maintained in a seaworthy condition at all times with respect to Health, Safety Environment and quality aspects.
Provide contribution for HSEQ matters; follow up with the procedures and implementation.
Assist in accident investigation as part of HSE committee.
Ensure barge Move operation are conducted safely.
Review Barge Location and confirm location safety with client.
Job Specific Accountabilities Part 2:
Receive, review, and endorse units requests for repairs and where required, ensure supervision of such repairs to ensure compliance with class and International Marine Organization (IMO), OCIMF / ISGOTT and ICS rules and recommendations while remaining within budgeted costs and time frame.
Attend, Supervise and contribute to the dry-docking process through overseeing the Units preparation to dry dock and / or afloat repair specifications, analysing tendering documents and assist in supervising dry- docking repairs (Superintendent, Marine Projects (Dry Dock) to ensure the performance is in alignment with budgeted costs and company and industry standards.
Ensure planned maintenance schedules and that Unit certifications are renewed as required to ensure equipment longevity and operation, in line with standards.
Ensure the completion/supervision of any maintenance work, including acquisition of equipment / spare part required in maintenance in line with standards and procedures to meet fleet requirements in a timely and accurate manner
Intervenes to maintain high technical standards, thereby ensuring the technical efficiency, cost control and safety of vessel, Monitor Inventory Material Management consumption of relevant stores, spare parts, fuel, lube oils and chemicals and ensure set targets are maintained as per standards.
Carry out technical inspections of the ships machinery, equipment, structures and documentation in order to ensure compliance with company standards, industry practice and safe operations.
Monitoring systems which record technical aspects - including Unit Status, Passage performance (loaded / ballast), fuel oil consumption, equipment performance, Spare Parts stock, dry docking, and other maintenance activities.
Job Specific Accountabilities Part 3:
Provides the required marine engineering and technical knowledge support to ships and related technical services and advice.
Deputises, as appropriate, for the Technical Manager, performing functions at the relevant level.
Participates, in liaison with Shipbuilding teams, in monitoring ship construction progress. Checks that all equipment is as per approved specifications and makes visits as and when required.
Monitors, and ensures, technical effectiveness, of Unit management and time charter agreements, including proper upkeep of Units, their machinery and equipment and related costs. Called upon for the acceptability of spot Hire and advises Technical Manager as appropriate.
Monitors the technical aspects of designated Units on Long Term or Spot Hire.
Issues reports on the technical aspects of ships - highlighting technical performance levels, as appropriate.
Liaises with Marine / HSE Superintendent and advises, as appropriate, resolutions of issues arising and keeps them updated on present technical condition of the vessel.
Monitors maintenance standards and costs of each ship and undertakes corrective action. Monitor and control the consumption of relevant stores, spare parts, fuel, lube oils and chemicals.
Create Purchase Requisition with governance of the specification, procurement, storage, and issue of spare parts, required for maintenance and emergency work.
Monitors the storage and preservation of Depot Spare Gear.
Provides an input into the maintenance of the divisions filing and record system. Updates all relevant folders of the Share drive or company common storage drives.
AD HOC as may be directed by line manager.
Achieve 100% internal and external customer satisfaction
Systematic and scheduled Jack up barge units planned maintenance program.
Job Specific Accountabilities Part 4:
Monitor all class, flag and required certification for assigned Jack Up units and advise line management accordingly
Ensure technical compliance with local regulations and those defined in charter parties
Minimize boat / Jack up barge unit downtime.
Maintain and improve operational capabilities of all designated boat / Jack Up unitsMaintain cost control through complying to budget threshold.
Ensure project deadlines are met in effective and efficient manner
Promote an incident free safety culture
Recommend cost savings initiatives, without compromising on safety & integrity parameters
Maintain JUM Class, compliance with ISM, statutory and local regulations
Ensure valid navigational licenses and security passes for the units and crew staff on board
Engage with management team to rectify and close out SDRs in a timely manner
Minimum Requirements:
Graduated in Marine Engineering discipline, certified in accordance with STCW 95 code (unlimited) certificate
Graduated Mechanical Engineering discipline
Shall possess extensive knowledge of ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL etc.
Must hold all offshore trainings in accordance with ADNOC training matrix
Must have experience as Chief Engineer on offshore vessels for at least (5) Five years.
At least 5 years of relevant experience
Proficient in English
Computer literate and software expertise in database management and MS Office application. i.e. MS Excel, MS Word and Outlook and essential, strong leadership, management, interpersonal skills.
Ability to delegate, effective communicator, organized, diplomatic and versatile
