Job Description

Leads and manages all structural steel installation activities on-site, ensuring work is executed safely, on schedule, and according to project specifications. Oversees resources, subcontractors, and interfaces with other disciplines to maintain quality and project efficiency.


 


Key Responsibilities:


Planning & Execution:



  • Lead and manage all aspects of structural steel installation at the project site.

  • Prepare work and resource plans in consultation with Construction Manager; supervise subcontractors and Structural Supervisors.

  • Finalize overall schedule and mobilization plans based on work front and material release.

  • Prepare three-week lookahead and weekly execution plans.

  • Coordinate with other discipline superintendents to minimize work hold-ups.


Safety, Quality & Compliance:



  • Ensure implementation of HSSE and Quality plans and procedures.

  • Prepare Method Statements, Job Hazard Analyses, risk assessments, and obtain client approvals.

  • Review project specifications, procedures, inspection plans, and method statements.

  • Ensure bolt torquing procedures are followed and records maintained.


Material & Resource Management:



  • Determine appropriate supplies and maintain stock levels of materials and consumables.

  • Ensure crane availability as required and within cost and supplier lead-time constraints.


Reporting & Audits:



  • Report daily, weekly, and monthly progress.

  • Investigate, collate, and analyze information to assist in client audits.

  • Promote and maintain a safe, hazard-free working environment.


Required Qualifications & Competencies:



  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

  • 10–15 years of work experience in the Oil & Gas industry.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; fluent in English.

  • Well-versed in welding processes, techniques, and their applicability.

  • Expertise in inspection of fit-ups, assemblies, dimensional inspections, and certification of structural steel installation works.

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting drawings and isometrics.

  • Good knowledge of international codes and standards relevant to structural works.

  • Familiar with oil & gas HSE requirements, work practices, and quality standards.
