Job Description

A Storekeeper plays a crucial role in the efficient operation of any organization by overseeing the storage and distribution of materials, equipment, and products. This position requires a detail-oriented individual capable of managing inventory levels, ensuring that shipments are received and dispatched accurately and promptly. The Storekeeper must also be adept at maintaining orderly systems for tracking goods and preventing stock discrepancies. This role involves a mix of administrative duties, physical tasks, and collaboration with team members and suppliers to support the smooth function of the supply chain and inventory management. The ideal candidate for this role is organized, proactive, and possesses a strong understanding of warehousing processes and safety standards.


Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records of inventory and ensure all data is updated regularly.
  • Receive, verify, and inspect incoming shipments to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Organize and maintain the storage area in an orderly and safe manner.
  • Coordinate the dispatch of goods, ensuring timely delivery to appropriate departments.
  • Identify discrepancies in inventory data and resolve them efficiently.
  • Conduct regular audits to assess inventory levels and report findings.
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to facilitate timely restocking of materials.
  • Implement proper procedures for handling, storing, and disposing of materials.
  • Continuously improve storage and distribution procedures for increased efficiency.
  • Manage the training and supervision of junior store staff as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines within the storage areas.
  • Operate handling equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks safely and responsibly.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; certification in warehousing is a plus.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in inventory management or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills for efficient inventory control.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely and correctly.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices for storage management.
  • Detail-oriented mentality with strong problem-solving and time management abilities.
