Job Description

The Stewarding Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operations of the kitchen and dining facilities by overseeing the stewarding staff. This position focuses on maintaining cleanliness standards, ensuring efficient supply management, and guaranteeing that all health and safety protocols are adhered to. The candidate must possess exceptional organizational and leadership skills to lead a diverse team effectively. Key attributes include a keen attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. The Stewarding Supervisor will liaise closely with chefs and kitchen staff to ensure that the highest quality of service and operational standards are maintained at all times.


Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the stewarding staff on a daily basis.
  • Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of all kitchen and dining areas consistently.
  • Monitor stock levels of kitchen equipment and report any shortages promptly.
  • Conduct regular inspections to maintain compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with the culinary team to ensure timely and efficient food service operations.
  • Train new stewarding staff on standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Manage waste disposal systems and promote environmental sustainability practices.
  • Prepare schedules and delegate tasks to optimize workforce efficiency and productivity.
  • Address any operational issues or employee concerns promptly and effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records of cleaning schedules and maintenance tasks performed.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and report any malfunctions immediately.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within catering or hospitality environments.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and sanitation standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively manage a team.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • High level of organizational skills and attention to detail in all tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and high-pressure situations efficiently.
  • Basic knowledge of inventory management and supply chain coordination is preferred.
