Job Description
The Automotive Spray Painter applies paint coats to vehicles, ensuring a smooth and flawless finish. They prepare the surfaces, mix paint colors, and operate spray painting equipment. The Automotive Spray Painter is responsible for maintaining a high level of quality and following safety guidelines in the painting process.
Responsibilities
- Prepare vehicle surfaces by sanding, masking, and applying primer.
- Mix paint colors to match the vehicle's original color or as per customer specifications.
- Operate spray painting equipment to apply paint coats evenly and consistently.
- Follow safety guidelines and use personal protective equipment.
- Check paint density and viscosity to ensure the proper application.
- Inspect painted surfaces for defects and buff or polish as necessary.
- Clean and maintain painting equipment and booths.
- Collaborate with other automotive technicians to ensure efficient workflow.
- Stay updated on the latest painting techniques, colors, and finishes.
- Adhere to quality control procedures and meet production deadlines.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical school training in automotive painting is preferred.
- Proven experience as an automotive spray painter.
- Sound knowledge of automotive painting techniques, materials, and equipment.
- Attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
- Strong understanding of paint mixing and color matching.
