Job Description
A Speech and Language Therapist assess, diagnoses, and provides therapy for individuals with communication and swallowing disorders. They work with clients across the lifespan, from children with speech delays to adults recovering from strokes or managing neurodegenerative diseases.

Responsibilities
- 1. Assessment: Conduct comprehensive evaluations to diagnose speech, language, communication, voice, and swallowing disorders in clients.
- 2. Treatment Planning: Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results, setting specific goals and objectives for therapy.
- 3. Therapy Sessions: Provide therapy and interventions to clients, utilizing evidence-based techniques to improve speech, language, voice, fluency, and communication skills.
- 4. Swallowing Rehabilitation: Assess and treat individuals with swallowing difficulties (dysphagia), including recommending modified diets or exercises.
- 5. Communication Devices: Recommend and assist clients in using augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices when needed.
- 6. Child Language Development: Work with children to address language delays and disorders, including speech sound disorders and developmental language disorders.
- 7. Stuttering Management: Assist individuals who stutter in improving their fluency and confidence in communication.
- 8. Voice Disorders: Evaluate and treat clients with voice disorders, helping them regain healthy vocal function.
- 9. Cognitive-Communication Skills: Assist clients with cognitive-communication difficulties resulting from brain injuries, strokes, or neurodegenerative diseases.
- 10. Education and Training: Provide education and training to clients, their families, and caregivers on strategies to facilitate communication and improve overall functioning.
- 11. Collaboration: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including doctors, educators, occupational therapists, and psychologists, to ensure comprehensive care for clients.
- 12. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and other relevant documentation.
- 13. Research and Professional Development: Stay updated on the latest research and advancements in the field of speech and language therapy through continuing education and participation in research projects.
Complying with Policies, Procedures and Practices of the SEHA facilities and other regulatory requirements
Complying consistently with facility policies, procedures and practices and ensuring alignment with SEHA facilities policies
Completing and maintaining regulatory requirements including licensure and certification and other mandatory training within established time frames
Maintaining Confidentiality
Maintaining confidentiality with regards to any information exchanged or received in the current capacity of role in accordance with facility policy
Promoting Customer Service standards
Assuming the role of a brand ambassador for the facility and promoting a customer focused philosophy in dealing with any stakeholders
Maintaining positive and effective working relationships within the department/division and also with other departments/sections within the facility
Performing any other duties as may be assigned relevant to the basic responsibilities of the role
Adhering to the Occupational Health and Safety, Materials Management and Maintenance standards
Adhering to requirements of the Occupational Health and safety guidelines and infection control guidelines
Understanding and adhering to emergency preparedness plans/policies
Ensuring Personal Effectiveness
Recognizing the necessity of continuously developing skills and acquiring additional knowledge appropriate to the position
Dressing appropriately to meet the expectations of the specific work area and in alignment with the Occupational Health and Safety policies
Building key partnerships within the organization for pursuing client-centered, comprehensive, integrated systems of care
Complying with any regulations related to mentoring, training, development of UAE nationals staff
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Masters degree in speech-language pathology from an accredited program.
Specialist Certifications
- Licensure or certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist, which may vary by region or country.
Experience Required in addition to the Qualifications mentioned above (Relevant to the Job)
- Clinical experience through internships or supervised practice.
