Overview

As a Specialist Solution Engineer at Inception, you will support the shaping of business-led AI solutions by translating client challenges into clear value propositions, business cases, and ROI narratives. Working closely with other Solution Engineers, Product, Delivery and Sales teams, you will help ensure AI opportunities are grounded in measurable business outcomes and aligned with customer strategy.

This role focuses on value articulation, business case development, and pre-sales support, complementing technical solution engineering by ensuring why a solution should be built is as clear as how it could be built.

You will engage in early-stage client conversations, support discovery and value realistation efforts and contribute to proposals and executive materials that help customers and Inception make confident investment decisions.

Responsibilities

Business & Value Support

  • Lead use case discovery and envisioning session with customers.
  • Design solutions by leveraging Inception’s existing product portfolio, and conduct gap analyses between product capabilities and customer requirements.
  • Assist in defining business flows and value frameworks that align AI capabilities with enterprise objectives.
  • Contribute to client-facing discussions as a value-focused advisor.

Value Engineering & Business Case Development

  • Translate client pain points into structured value statements and quantified business cases.
  • Support the development of hypotheses, KPIs, and ROI models for AI initiatives.
  • Help quantify impact across operational efficiency, revenue growth, cost reduction, and risk mitigation.
  • Ensure business value considerations are embedded into early solution design and proposals.

Pre-Sales & Proposal Support

  • Support sales and pre-sales teams by contributing to RFP/RFI responses and proposals.
  • Assist in preparing executive-facing materials that clearly articulate business impact and trade-offs.
  • Help align solution scope, assumptions, and pricing with expected value outcomes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with product development, delivery and rest of solution engineering team to align technical feasibility with value realisation.
  • Collaborate with Product teams to provide input into roadmap prioritisation based on customer value signals.
  • Capture learnings from client engagements to support continuous improvement of value frameworks.

Qualifications

Skills and attributes for success

  • Background in consulting, business analysis, solution engineering, or enterprise advisory roles.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to build and communicate clear business cases and ROI models.
  • Comfortable working with senior stakeholders under the guidance of more senior leads.
  • Ability to understand and articulate how AI-enabled solutions drive business outcomes without being deeply technical.
  • Structured thinker with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Curious, collaborative, and eager to grow in AI-led consulting.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4–6+ years of experience in technology consulting, solution engineering, process engineering, value engineering, or similar roles.
  • Experience supporting complex sales cycles, proposals, or transformation initiatives.
  • Experience collaborating with technical and product teams.
