Job Description

Wood is seeking an experienced PMC Specialist Smart Plant Engineer (Greenfield) to support the delivery of a major ADNOC Offshore Greenfield development project. The role will be responsible for the administration, implementation, integration, governance and optimization of SmartPlant engineering applications and engineering information management systems across the project lifecycle.

The successful candidate will provide technical expertise and digital engineering support to PMC, ADNOC and EPC contractor teams, ensuring the integrity, quality, consistency and accessibility of engineering data throughout engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover phases. The role will act as the focal point for SmartPlant systems and engineering data management activities while ensuring compliance with ADNOC requirements, project specifications and digital engineering standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist support for the administration, configuration and maintenance of SmartPlant engineering applications utilized across the project.
  • Manage and support SmartPlant tools including SmartPlant Foundation (SPF), SmartPlant P&ID (SPPID), SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI), SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL) and Smart 3D (SP3D), as applicable.
  • Serve as the primary PMC focal point for SmartPlant systems and engineering data management activities.
  • Review and monitor EPC contractor implementation and utilization of SmartPlant applications and engineering databases.
  • Ensure compliance with ADNOC standards, project information management requirements and engineering data governance procedures.
  • Support the development, implementation and enforcement of project data management strategies and digital engineering workflows.
  • Maintain engineering data quality, consistency, traceability and integrity throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Configure and manage SmartPlant Foundation document and data management workflows.
  • Coordinate engineering data interfaces between SmartPlant systems and other project applications.
  • Support engineering disciplines in the development, management and maintenance of project engineering databases.
  • Review and validate engineering data structures, catalogs, templates, naming conventions and coding standards.
  • Ensure proper management of engineering deliverables, metadata and document control requirements within SmartPlant systems.
  • Monitor data quality metrics and perform regular audits of engineering databases and digital information repositories.
  • Support data migration, system integration and data loading activities between project systems.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for SmartPlant software, databases and user issues.
  • Conduct system performance assessments and recommend process improvements where required.
  • Develop project-specific SmartPlant procedures, user guides and work instructions.
  • Coordinate with engineering disciplines to ensure accurate generation and transfer of engineering information.
  • Support engineering design reviews, constructability reviews and project audits from a digital engineering perspective.
  • Review contractor data handover deliverables and ensure compliance with ADNOC information management requirements.
  • Ensure timely preparation and delivery of engineering data reports, dashboards and management information.
  • Support commissioning and start-up teams through provision of accurate engineering data and documentation.
  • Participate in risk assessments and identify potential data management and system integration risks.
  • Provide training, coaching and technical guidance to project personnel regarding SmartPlant applications and best practices.
  • Coordinate closely with ADNOC Offshore representatives, project management teams and EPC contractors on all SmartPlant-related matters.
  • Promote digital engineering excellence and continuous improvement throughout project execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience within the oil & gas industry.
  • Significant experience supporting Greenfield offshore oil & gas projects.
  • Demonstrated experience with Hexagon SmartPlant/Smart 3D applications in major EPC, EPCM or PMC projects.
  • Strong experience in engineering information management, digital engineering and engineering data governance.
  • Hands-on experience administering and supporting SmartPlant Foundation (SPF) environments.
  • Experience managing engineering databases, data structures, catalogs and system integrations.
  • Strong understanding of multidisciplinary engineering workflows covering process, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation disciplines.
  • Experience supporting engineering data handover and project close-out requirements.
  • Knowledge of engineering document management systems and data lifecycle management principles.
  • Experience with database platforms, SQL queries and engineering systems reporting tools.
  • Previous experience working within a PMC / EPCM / EPC environment.
  • Strong understanding of ADNOC engineering and information management requirements is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication, coordination and stakeholder management skills.
