Job Description

The Specialist – Accounting & Financial Reporting plays a pivotal role in ensuring the financial soundness and reporting accuracy of an organization. This specialist is responsible for the preparation, analysis, and presentation of financial reports which are crucial for strategic planning and decision-making processes. Within the accounting department, this role encompasses a range of tasks that go beyond basic bookkeeping to include complex financial analysis, compliance, and advisory duties. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations. They will collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to guarantee the integrity and transparency of financial information and to maintain regulatory compliance. Additionally, they will be expected to stay current with industry best practices and developments to continually improve reporting processes and tools.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review financial statements and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings.
  • Assist in the month-end closing process to prepare accurate financial reports.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with external auditors during audits to provide necessary financial information.
  • Implement and maintain effective internal controls over financial reporting processes.
  • Develop and improve reporting processes and systems for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and support to other departments as needed.
  • Monitor regulatory changes to ensure compliance with new financial reporting requirements.
  • Prepare detailed financial analyses and reports for management review purposes.
  • Participate in strategic planning by providing financial forecasts and risk assessments.
  • Support senior management with specialized financial reports and decision-making tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or financial reporting roles.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and IFRS.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis tools and advanced Excel skills are necessary.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively convey financial information.
  • Proven experience in preparing financial statements and presenting to stakeholders.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or working towards it is preferred.
