Job Description

The Sourcing Manager - Plastics is an integral part of the procurement and supply chain management team, responsible for overseeing the acquisition of plastic materials needed for production and operations. They play a crucial role in developing supplier strategies, negotiating contracts, and ensuring cost-effective procurement without compromising on quality. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, possess exceptional negotiation skills, and have a deep understanding of the plastics industry. They will also work closely with cross-functional teams, including product development, quality assurance, and inventory management, to ensure that supply chain objectives align with the broader goals of the organization.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies for plastic materials to meet production needs.
  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers to ensure high-quality and cost-effective procurement.
  • Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to secure favorable pricing and conditions.
  • Monitor market trends and adjust sourcing strategies to exploit potential opportunities.
  • Collaborate with product development teams to align material needs with project timelines.
  • Assess supplier performance and manage relationships to ensure long-term collaboration.
  • Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Mitigate supply risks by developing contingency plans and alternate sourcing options.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations related to sourcing.
  • Track and report key metrics related to cost savings and procurement efficiency.
  • Work closely with quality assurance teams to ensure materials meet company standards.
  • Manage budgets and expenditures in alignment with departmental financial goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in sourcing or procurement within the plastics industry.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to manage supplier relationships effectively.
  • Comprehensive understanding of global sourcing and supply chain management principles.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools to manage purchasing activities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for cross-functional interactions.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret market data and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
