Key Responsibilities

Role Purpose

The Process Engineering SME will serve as the technical lead supporting deployment, operational monitoring, sustainment, and continuous value realization of AVEVA Predictive Analytics and Process Optimisation solutions deployed across customer operations in the Middle East region.

The role combines deep process engineering expertise with operational optimization and predictive analytics advisory capabilities to ensure predictive and optimization models deliver measurable improvements in throughput, energy efficiency, process stability, production optimization, and operational performance.

The SME will work closely with customer operations, process engineering, production, control room, reliability, and digital teams throughout the solution lifecycle — from model development and deployment through operational monitoring, optimization, and long-term sustainment.

The role is responsible for translating AI-generated operational advisories and optimization insights into actionable process improvements that maximize production efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and improve plant performance.

  • Process operating conditions
  • Heat and mass balance relationships
  • Equipment performance characteristics
  • Process constraints
  • Operating envelopes and plant limitations
  • Support asset criticality assessments, use case definition, and identification of high-value optimization opportunities for:
  • Separators
  • Compressors
  • Heat exchangers
  • Gas processing systems
  • NGL processing units
  • Utility and process systems
  • Participate in model validation, alert tuning, calibration, and user acceptance testing (UAT) activities prior to go-live.
  • Correlate predictive and optimization model outputs with operational and process data including:
  • Process trends
  • Throughput data
  • Energy consumption
  • Product quality parameters
  • DCS/APC data
  • Historical operating records
  • Validate model outputs against actual plant behaviour, process constraints, and operating conditions to improve model accuracy and reliability.
  • Support model recalibration activities when process conditions change due to:
  • Well decline
  • Feed composition shifts
  • Equipment modifications
  • Operational strategy changes
  • Provide engineering input to support expansion of optimization coverage to additional process units and facilities.

Predictive Monitoring, Sustainment & Value Realization

  • Review and manage daily process optimization advisories and predictive alerts for deployed process systems and assets.
  • Assess feasibility of model-recommended set-point changes against current operational constraints, production targets, and safety requirements.
  • Validate optimization recommendations for:
  • Separators
  • Compressors
  • Heat exchangers
  • Gas processing units
  • Utility systems
  • Other critical process equipment
  • Investigate process anomalies and inefficiencies identified by deployed AVEVA solutions and determine whether alerts represent:
  • Genuine process inefficiencies
  • Equipment performance degradation
  • Process instability
  • Model artefacts or data quality issues
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for process deviations, optimization gaps, and performance losses.
  • Work closely with customer operations teams and control room personnel to safely implement operational advisories and optimization recommendations.
  • Monitor implementation outcomes and provide operational feedback to analytics and model teams for continuous optimization improvement.
  • Ensure predictive and optimization models remain aligned with actual operating conditions, process behaviour, and production strategies throughout the sustainment lifecycle.
  • Act as the primary technical focal point during sustainment and managed service phases for assigned process optimization portfolios.
  • Support continuous improvement, model refinement, and enhancement of predictive and optimization effectiveness.
  • Track and report operational and value realization KPIs including:
  • Throughput improvement
  • Energy consumption reduction
  • Product quality improvements
  • Flaring reduction
  • Process stability enhancement
  • Production optimization benefits
  • Participate in governance meetings, technical reviews, workshops, and value realization sessions with customer stakeholders and project teams.
  • Provide operational feedback and engineering recommendations to analytics, product, and delivery teams to improve solution performance and customer outcomes.
  • Support long-term customer adoption, sustainment, and continuous business value realization from deployed predictive analytics and optimization solutions.
  • Conduct periodic visits to customer plants, operational facilities, control rooms, and industrial sites to support deployment activities, process assessments, optimization reviews, advisory validation, and stakeholder engagement.
