The Site Nurse is responsible for providing occupational health services, first aid, and emergency medical care at the construction site. The role supports employee health and wellbeing through medical surveillance, health promotion, clinical care, and compliance with applicable occupational health and safety requirements. The position works closely with site management, HSE teams, HR, and external medical providers to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all site personnel.
Key Accountabilities
Occupational Health Surveillance & Medical Administration
Develop, implement, and administer occupational health surveillance programs for site personnel.
Manage employee medical reports, health screening, and fitness-to-work status.
Ensure timely reporting, recording, and follow-up of infectious diseases and occupational illnesses.
Conduct occupational health assessments, consultations, and medical referrals as required.
Administer programs aimed at reducing work-related health hazards, including hearing conservation, respiratory protection, ergonomics, travel health, and immunization programs.
Maintain accurate records of first aid cases, medical treatment cases, occupational injuries, and medical sick leave.
Monitor and maintain records of medicines, medical supplies, and clinic facility usage.
Health Promotion, Training & Education
Design, develop, and deliver workplace health promotion initiatives.
Provide occupational health education, counseling, and health briefings to employees.
Conduct health induction sessions and training related to occupational health matters.
Promote health and safety awareness among site employees in coordination with HSE teams.
First Aid, Emergency Response & Clinical Care
Lead and manage first aid provision and emergency medical response programs on site.
Identify medical conditions and provide immediate and appropriate first aid treatment.
Provide basic medical support, health screening, and routine care to site employees.
Deliver emergency medical treatment and arrange prompt transfer to external medical facilities when required.
Maintain emotional composure and provide care for injuries or illnesses requiring further medical attention.
Establish, maintain, and manage a clean, safe, and well-equipped sick bay / clinic facility at the workplace.
Audits, Compliance & Reporting
Conduct periodic health, hygiene, and medical facility audits, including labor accommodation facilities.
Support implementation of the Occupational Health and Safety policies at the project level.
Ensure medical practices and site health arrangements comply with applicable regulatory and authority requirements.
Prepare and submit periodic medical and occupational health reports to site management and the Group HSE office.
Provide recommendations to site management on medical care improvements and health risk mitigation.
Confidentiality, Recordkeeping & Coordination
Maintain strict confidentiality of patient records, medical data, and incident reports in accordance with applicable laws and ethical standards.
Coordinate with HR and insurance providers on workmen’s compensation cases and medical claims.
Work closely with site management, HSE teams, and HR on occupational health matters.
Perform any other duties assigned, with mutual agreement and guidance from the Group HSE Manager.
Required Qualifications & Competencies
Nursing background with a recognized Nursing degree or equivalent qualification.
Valid nursing license issued by relevant local health authorities (e.g., DOH, DHA, MOH, or equivalent).
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in nursing or medical practice, preferably within construction or engineering project environments.
Strong skills in occupational health assessments and workplace health promotion.
Proficient in first aid, emergency medical response, and basic clinical care.
Effective communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with workers, supervisors, and site management.
High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
