Responsibilities
Provides resolution for technical engineering problems within the assigned discipline(s); coordinates application of solutions to ensure progress on site.
Coordinates process with other disciplines.
Assists with selection of native plants appropriate their locality, exposure, aspects, soil, and landscape desires.
Performs all aspects of garden installation, including hardscape, irrigation, and plant placement.
Reviews shop drawing, Material submittal, Method statement, RFI response and As Built Drawing.
Reviews technical submittal related to soft landscaping & hard landscape works.
Prepares and presents work progress reports on daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
(If required) participates in landscaping design review and with design approving agencies including technical expertise in soft & hard landscaping works.
Maintains records for activities on site including progress photos and ensure they are readily available for inspection as and when required.
Prepares Surveillance Report(s) for deficiencies of work found at site that are believed to have failed or if the contractor is not complying with verbal instructions and subsequently complete a Non-Conformance Report (NCR) if required in view of the development of events.
(if required) Designs irrigation system for landscape projects.
Advise the project manager of any technical aspects that may affect construction progress, quality and the like.
Continually review the contractors construction schedule during the progress of site works.
Hands on in monitoring the landscape works for conformance with the provisions of the contract documents and the procedures manual.
Monitors procurement and deliveries to ensure timeliness in support of construction activities and schedule within the assigned discipline.
Undertake general project site observation / inspection of the works for Contractors adherence to the approved shop drawings and Consultants specification, good working practices, the construction schedule and health & safety.
Be available to undertake off-site inspections of proposed materials as may be deemed necessary by the Project Manager.
Lead the snagging and de-snagging process with an aim to progress the works to completion through this process.
Attend project, site progress and any related technical meetings as directed by the project manager.
Prepare draft site / engineers instructions, relating to the project, as required and issue to the Project Manager.
Provide advice to the Project Manager in regard to any variation costs that may be claimed by the Contractor during the course of the works.
Oversee junior staff members for all landscape work and ensure that installation activities comply with contractual obligations and quality control standards.
Ensures that the project quality control procedures are used and monitors it for improvement.
Collaborates with construction management to eliminate any hazards associated with the work that may adversely affect the environment or the safety or health of employees.
Reviews and interprets discipline design drawings and specifications to ensure current re vision level and correct technical execution of the work.
Performs works inspection requests and material inspection requests as required.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
External Communications: Help others get the most out of external communications systems by offering support and advice.
Construction Management: Supervise others on a construction project, working within established operational systems.
Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow the organizations health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace; instruct the team in safe working methods; identify instances of risky behaviors within the team and take appropriate action, escalating serious issues as appropriate.
Work Scheduling and Allocation: Assign short-term work schedules to a team of subordinates in order to achieve expectations while following established timelines.
Leadership and Direction: Communicate the local action plan; explain how this relates to the functions strategy and action plan and to the broader organizations mission and vision; motivate people to achieve local business goals.
Performance Management: Respond to personal objectives and use performance management systems to improve personal performance; or monitor the performance of the team, allocate work and review completion, take appropriate corrective action to ensure timeliness and quality, and contribute to formal individual performance management and appraisal.
Organizational Capability Building: Provide coaching to team members to develop their skills.
Quality Assurance: Plan and coordinate testing and inspection of products and processes. Implement corrective actions or continuous improvement initiatives and monitor them to make sure they are effective.
Operational Compliance: Identify, within the team, instances of noncompliance with the organizations policies and procedures and/or relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, reporting these instances and escalating issues as appropriate.
Client & Customer Management (External): Help senior colleagues manage client and customer relationships by using relevant sales or client systems.
