Job Description

The role of a Site Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer is pivotal in ensuring a safe and compliant work environment. This position involves the development, implementation, and maintenance of health, safety, and environmental policies for construction or industrial projects. As a Site HSE Officer, you will be responsible for conducting site inspections, promoting safe working practices, and ensuring that the organization adheres to statutory safety regulations. You will work closely with the management and site teams to cultivate a safety-oriented culture, minimizing risks and ensuring the well-being of all site personnel. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, possess excellent problem-solving skills, and have the capability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization to drive safety initiatives and improvements.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive health, safety, and environmental policies on site.
  • Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety statutory regulations and guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, and safety training programs.
  • Provide guidance and support to management and employees on safety practices.
  • Lead investigations of incidents and accidents to determine their causes.
  • Organize and conduct safety training sessions for all site personnel.
  • Coordinate emergency procedures and develop emergency response plans.
  • Promote health, safety, and environment culture among employees and contractors.
  • Implement corrective actions and follow up on compliance with HSE policies.
  • Participate in HSE audits and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Assess and control environmental impacts related to the project site.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar HSE role within the industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
  • Strong observational and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
  • Certification in safety management, such as NEBOSH or IOSH, is preferred.
