We are seeking a skilled Service Operation Engineer (Maintenance) to join our operational team in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on ensuring reliable operation, preventative maintenance, and effective fault resolution for mechanical, electrical, and building services equipment across commercial and infrastructure assets. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality maintenance support, coordinate service activities with contractors and stakeholders, and contribute to continuous improvement of maintenance processes and asset performance.
Plan, undertake, and supervise scheduled preventive and corrective maintenance activities for plantroom equipment, HVAC systems, pumps, ventilation, fire life-safety systems, and associated electrical controls.
Respond to service calls and operational incidents, diagnose faults, implement remedial actions, and document outcomes to restore systems to safe and compliant operation.
Prepare and maintain accurate maintenance records, logbooks, asset history, and service reports using the company’s CMMS; ensure work orders are closed with appropriate evidence and sign-off.
Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to procure parts, schedule specialist interventions, and manage site-based maintenance activities to minimise downtime and disruption.
Support planned shutdowns, commissioning, and handover activities by providing technical input, executing test procedures, and verifying functional performance against acceptance criteria.
Conduct site inspections and routine condition surveys to identify defects, safety hazards, and opportunities for reliability improvements; recommend corrective and preventive measures.
Ensure compliance with applicable statutory requirements, health & safety policies, and site-specific permits during all maintenance activities.
Assist with spare parts management, stock reviews, and specification of required items to support timely repairs and continuity of service.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including root cause analysis, failure mode reviews, and implementation of preventive strategies to reduce reactive maintenance.
Provide technical guidance and on-the-job mentoring to junior engineers and technicians; support competency development within the operations team.
Essential Skills – Technical Competence & Communication
Technical skills: Strong practical knowledge of mechanical and electrical building services including HVAC, pumps, fans, control valves, sensors, and electrical distribution systems.
Troubleshooting: Proven ability to diagnose and rectify faults using logical fault-finding techniques and appropriate test equipment.
IT literacy: Proficiency with CMMS, MS Office applications, and mobile reporting tools; experience with BMS/SCADA systems is advantageous.
Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills with the ability to prepare concise service reports, method statements, and handover documentation.
Organisational skills: Ability to prioritise tasks across multiple sites, manage competing demands, and meet service level agreements.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services, Facilities Management, or a relevant trade qualification.
Minimum 4–6 years’ experience in maintenance or service engineering for building services, FM, or process plant environments.
Demonstrable experience with preventive maintenance programmes, fault diagnosis, and contractor management.
Working knowledge of relevant regulations and standards (electrical safety, gas safety where applicable, fire safety, and local building codes).
Valid certifications as required for the role (e.g., electrical qualification, confined space, working at height) and willingness to obtain site-specific licences.
Valid UAE driving licence.
Ability to travel to client sites and work flexible hours when required to support out-of-hours response and planned shutdowns.
Fluency in English; additional language skills are advantageous but not required.
