As a Service Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in executing retrofit upgrades, system extensions, and modifications for Substation Automation systems and delivering Service Level Agreement (SLA) programs. You will lead assignments of low to high complexity, ensuring all site activities are completed efficiently, cost-effectively, and fully aligned with contractual obligations, quality standards, and safety requirements.

Represent the Service Engineering function in project and customer meetings, contributing to the development of project execution philosophies and plans, and ensuring their effective implementation.
Serve as a key technical interface with customers, ensuring Hitachi Energy is consistently presented as a professional and trusted partner.
Coordinate with customers and external entities to prepare project documents, execution schedules, acceptance criteria, resolve open items, and complete acceptance testing activities.
Execute service engineering activities such as system integrations, factory testing and site implementations in accordance with approved processes to ensure on-time, on-quality, and on-cost delivery.
Perform system modifications, extensions, and upgrades, including -Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), energization checks, and final system acceptance as required.
Develop HMI configurations, and system databases according to project specifications.
Prepare project documentation such as System Architecture, Signal Lists, Component Configuration Documents, Project schedules, FAT & SAT procedures, Method of Statement (MoS), Risk Assessments (RA), Site Visit Reports, Incident Reports, and Root Cause Analyses (RCA), in coordination with team leads and project managers.
Ensure strict compliance with internal processes, external regulations, cybersecurity requirements, and safety protocols.
Support continuous improvement by providing structured lessons learned, supporting claims (scope, cost, and time impacts), and enabling product and process enhancements.
Contribute to the development of service activity estimates during tendering, helping define work scopes and collaborating with cross-functional teams to solve complex challenges.
Manage external partners providing equipment or services, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and quality requirements.
Take initiative to drive innovation, improve engineering solutions, and enhance customer value.

Perform real-time risk and opportunity assessments throughout project execution, identifying potential variations and supporting contract claim preparation.
Provide timely reporting of contract issues, quality concerns, scheduling risks, and cost deviations, along with actionable recommendations.
Your background
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Power Systems, Automation, or a related field.
6–10 years of experience as an SCMS engineer with proven design, testing, and commissioning expertise.
Strong command of Substation Automation Systems, including communication protocols such as IEC 101, IEC 104, IEC 61850, LON, SPA, Modbus, and others.
Advanced proficiency with Hitachi Energy MicroSCADA and RTU systems, as well as IEDs from various manufacturers.
Hands-on experience with engineering tools like MS Office, Visio, IET, ITT, PCM, MiCOM, DIGSI, and related applications.
Solid understanding of substation control logic, interlocking schemes, and power system operational principles.
Intermediate knowledge of OT cybersecurity standards, practices, solutions (Firewall, NIDS, WSUS, RADIUS Configuration) and testing methodologies.
Excellent communication skills and proficiency in spoken and written English.
Willingness to travel 100% to customer sites.
