Job Description

The Service Advisor is a crucial role within the automotive service industry, acting as a liaison between customers and the service department. Responsible for managing the customer's experience from start to finish, the Service Advisor conducts vehicle inspection reviews, offers expert advice on necessary maintenance and repairs, and ensures customers are informed throughout the service process. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a solid technical background in automotive services, and a genuine desire to provide exceptional customer service. Service Advisors must be adept at managing multiple tasks, building solid relationships with customers, and ensuring excellent service standards to maintain customer satisfaction and retention.


Responsibilities

  • Greet customers promptly and professionally both in person and over the phone.
  • Listen to customers' issues and concerns regarding their vehicles attentively.
  • Perform vehicle walk-around inspections and document service recommendations properly.
  • Provide accurate estimates for parts and labor costs to customers clearly and concisely.
  • Coordinate with the service team to schedule repairs as per customer's convenience.
  • Maintain and update records of service and repair estimates, including cost and quality details.
  • Liaise between customers and service technicians to ensure clear communication is maintained.
  • Follow up with customers to ensure satisfaction and address any additional service needs.
  • Promote and upsell additional automotive services and products efficiently and ethically.
  • Resolve customer complaints regarding service in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • Keep customers informed about the status of their vehicle and any delays in service.
  • Attend ongoing training to enhance knowledge of various vehicles and service techniques.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; further education or certificates are a plus.
  • Prior experience in automotive service, customer service, or sales preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle multiple tasks effectively.
  • Technical knowledge of vehicle repair and maintenance procedures beneficial.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and automotive service-related software.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays if required.
