Job Summary:

The Senior Supply Chain Planning Engineer is responsible for leading end-to-end supply chain planning to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing operations. This role acts as the primary interface between Supply Chain Management (SCM), Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and Procurement teams to align material availability with production plans and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production Planning Alignment
  • Lead the integration of supply chain plans with production schedules, ensuring timely availability of raw materials, components, services and spare parts.
  • Translate Material Requirements Planning (MRP) outputs into actionable procurement and inventory plans.
  • Collaborate closely with Production, Engineering and Maintenance teams to support planned shutdowns, maintenance activities, engineering projects requirements and critical spare requirements.
  • Monitor production and projects adherence and proactively resolve material constraints impacting manufacturing output.
  • Demand & Supply Planning
  • Develop and maintain demand forecasts based on production plans, historical consumption, and business inputs.
  • Perform supply planning and capacity alignment to ensure material availability without overstocking.
  • Conduct scenario planning and sensitivity analysis to manage demand variability and supply risks.
  • Continuously improve forecast accuracy and planning reliability.
  • Inventory Optimization & Material Control
  • Define and implement inventory strategies, including safety stock levels, reorder points, and min/max policies based on material criticality.
  • Monitor inventory health (slow-moving, obsolete, excess stock) and drive optimization initiatives.
  • Ensure high inventory accuracy and alignment between system records and physical stock.
  • Balance working capital targets with service level requirements to support efficient plant operations.
  • Procurement & Supplier Coordination
  • Oversee and track the full procurement cycle (PRs, POs, contracts, deliveries, and payments).
  • Ensure timely procurement of materials in line with production priorities and technical specifications.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to manage lead times, supplier constraints, and alternative sourcing strategies.
  • Monitor supplier performance (On-Time-In-Full, quality, responsiveness) and support improvement initiatives.
  • Logistics & Warehouse Operations
  • Coordinate inbound logistics to ensure timely delivery of raw materials and components to the plant.
  • Optimize warehouse operations, including layout, storage, and material flow to support efficient production feeding. Monitor and resolve logistics bottlenecks, including transportation delays and customs clearance issues. Ensure proper handling and storage of critical and sensitive materials.
  • Risk Management & Production Continuity
  • Identify supply chain risks that may impact production (material shortages, supplier delays, logistics disruptions).
  • Develop mitigation and contingency plans to ensure business continuity.
  • Maintain a critical materials watchlist and lead escalation processes for high-risk items.
  • Support emergency procurement and expediting activities when required.
  • Performance Management & Reporting
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive supply chain dashboards covering production support metrics.
  • Accurate project material planning reports aligned with engineering development and projects schedules
  • Utilize tools such as Microsoft Power BI for real-time reporting and insights.
  • Track and analyze key KPIs, including:
  • Material availability / line stoppage incidents
  • Inventory turnover and days of inventory
  • Supplier OTIF (On-Time-In-Full)
  • Procurement cycle time
  • Forecast accuracy
  • Provide actionable insights to management, highlighting risks, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Digitalization & Systems Integration
  • Act as a key user for ERP systems such as SAP ERP, ensuring accurate master data and MRP parameters.
  • Drive automation of planning, tracking, and reporting processes.
  • Support system enhancements, including MRP optimization and data governance initiatives.
  • Cost Optimization & Efficiency
  • Analyze supply chain costs, including procurement, logistics, and inventory holding costs.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce material costs, optimize order quantities, and improve logistics efficiency.
  • Support plant cost-saving initiatives and budgeting processes.
  • Continuous Improvement & Governance
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma.
  • Standardize planning processes, inventory policies, and reporting frameworks across the plant.
  • Ensure compliance with internal procedures, safety standards, and audit requirements.
  • Prepare and support internal and external audits.

Experience & Educational Qualifications:

  • 4–6 years of experience in supply chain planning, preferably in a project-based industry.
  • Additional qualification in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or Logistics preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems (SAP must) and data reporting tools (Excel, Power BI).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Industrial/Logistics/Equivalent) preferred.
