Job Description

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in the financial management of construction projects, ensuring they are completed within budget and to the highest standards. You will be responsible for evaluating project costs, managing budgets, conducting cost analyses, and overseeing financial reporting and contract management. Your expertise will be critical in controlling costs and maximizing the value of investments through the efficient quantification of materials, labor, and other expenditures. The role demands a strong understanding of construction practices and legal requirements, along with the ability to negotiate effectively with contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders. Ideal candidates will showcase their ability to handle complex financial transactions and provide insights that drive project efficiency and success.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed cost analysis and forecast for ongoing projects to ensure budget adherence.
  • Prepare comprehensive project cost reports and present findings to senior management.
  • Liaise effectively with contractors and suppliers to negotiate and finalize contracts.
  • Ensure the accurate measurement and valuation of work done on construction sites.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks related to cost, schedule, and procurement.
  • Manage project cash flow and budget allocation in line with financial forecasts.
  • Provide expert advice on contractual claims and procurement strategy topics.
  • Coordinate with project managers to uphold construction standards and cost efficiency.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of periodic progress claims and variations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely bill settlement with contractors and vendors involved.
  • Monitor and update project costs as per changes in scope or market conditions.
  • Train and mentor junior quantity surveyors to enhance professional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a quantity surveying role.
  • Proven expertise in cost estimation, budgeting, and financial management for projects.
  • Solid understanding of contractual legislation and procurement processes in construction.
  • Strong negotiation skills backed by excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in using industry-standard software for cost evaluation and reporting tasks.
  • Ability to multitask efficiently and manage numerous projects under tight deadlines.
