Senior Project Manager – Cybersecurity
A leading financial institution is investing significantly in the resilience, security, and modernisation of its technology estate, and is seeking an experienced Senior Technical Project Manager to drive the delivery of complex infrastructure and cybersecurity programmes. This role is central to ensuring that critical technology initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and in full alignment with enterprise security standards and regulatory requirements. This is a hands-on delivery role — ideal for a seasoned practitioner who is equally comfortable navigating governance frameworks and engaging deeply with technical and security teams on the ground.
Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end delivery of large and complex infrastructure and cybersecurity projects, managing scope, schedule, budget, and quality across the full project lifecycle.
- Manage multiple concurrent initiatives spanning on-premises environments, cloud platforms (IaaS/PaaS), network, compute, storage, and disaster recovery.
- Ensure strict adherence to project management methodologies and change governance standards throughout all stages of delivery.
- Oversee infrastructure deployments aligned to enterprise architecture standards, embedding security-by-design principles into all initiatives from inception.
- Support the delivery of cybersecurity programmes including SOC, SIEM, IAM, endpoint security, and regulatory remediation workstreams.
- Manage project risks, issues, and dependencies proactively, maintaining up-to-date risk registers and escalating where appropriate.
- Ensure full compliance with cybersecurity policies and applicable regulatory obligations throughout project execution.
- Support internal and external audit activities, maintaining thorough project documentation and tracking remediation actions to closure.
- Act as the primary interface between Technology, Cybersecurity, Risk, Compliance, and third-party vendors, ensuring alignment across all workstreams.
- Manage vendor relationships to ensure delivery against contractual commitments and security obligations.
- Provide regular, concise status reports, risk summaries, and escalation updates to senior stakeholders and governance forums.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation and governance records in line with organisational standards.
Qualifications and Skills:
- 10+ years of hands-on technical project management experience, ideally within a regulated financial services or banking environment.
- Demonstrable experience delivering infrastructure and cybersecurity programmes of significant scale and complexity.
- Strong working knowledge of on-premises and cloud infrastructure (IaaS/PaaS), network, compute, storage, and DR platforms.
- Solid understanding of cybersecurity domains including SOC operations, SIEM, IAM, and endpoint security.
- Proven experience managing project risks, audit findings, and regulatory compliance obligations within a structured governance framework.
- Skilled at managing multi-vendor environments and holding third parties accountable to contractual and security commitments.
- Confident communicator with the ability to engage effectively at all levels — from technical delivery teams through to C-suite stakeholders.
- Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- PMP or PRINCE2 certification is required; CISSP or CISM certification is strongly preferred.
