The Electrical Technician – Test Facility Controls Technician supports the operation, maintenance, and development of electrical and control systems within engine test facilities. The role involves hands-on assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of electronic circuits, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems used in propulsion testing environments.
The incumbent will work closely with engineering teams to support hardware prototyping, rig instrumentation, and control system integration. This includes assembling circuits from schematics, conducting electrical measurements, and assisting with system validation. The role requires a high level of attention to detail, technical discipline, and adherence to safety and quality standards in a test facility environment.
Key Responsibilities
Rig Operations & Technical Support
Assemble, wire, and solder electronic components on veroboards, copper PCBs, and control panels based on engineering schematics. Support the setup, integration, and commissioning of instrumentation and control systems within engine test facilities. Assist engineers in prototyping, debugging, and validating electrical and electronic systems. Conduct electrical measurements using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and diagnostic tools to verify system performance. Support data acquisition systems and test instrumentation, including basic configuration and signal validation. (Preferred) Assist with LabVIEW-based data acquisition and control system setup.
Testing & Troubleshooting
Perform fault finding and troubleshooting on electrical circuits, sensors, and control systems. Identify wiring, signal, and integration issues and support resolution with engineering teams. Ensure all systems meet functional and operational requirements prior to testing activities.
Safety & Compliance
Adhere to all safety procedures and protocols within test facilities and electrical work environments. Ensure compliance with internal standards and applicable industry regulations. Maintain safe handling practices when working with energized systems and sensitive components.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate records of wiring diagrams, schematics, test setups, and component inventories. Document test results, faults, and corrective actions in line with engineering and quality requirements. Provide timely updates to engineers and supervisors on progress and technical issues.
Continuous Improvement
Support improvements in test setups, wiring practices, and diagnostic processes.
Contribute to efficiency, reliability, and quality enhancements in test facility operations.
Qualifications & Experience
Diploma or certification in Electrical or Electronic Engineering Technology or a related field.
Experience in a workshop, manufacturing, or test facility environment.
Hands-on experience in circuit assembly, soldering, and electronic prototyping.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
Familiarity with electrical test equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
Exposure to data acquisition systems or control systems is advantageous.
(Preferred) Basic knowledge of LabVIEW or similar tools.
