Role Purpose

Role Purpose:

Senior Planning Manager is responsible for overseeing project planning, scheduling, and progress monitoring for construction projects. The role involves ensuring project timelines, budgets, and resources are managed efficiently while maintaining compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.

 

Key Accountabilities

Project Planning & Scheduling:

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 or equivalent software.
  • Establish project milestones, critical paths, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate with project teams to ensure schedules align with project goals.
  • Ensure alignment of planning and scheduling strategies with company objectives.

 

Progress Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Track project progress and prepare status reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Identify potential risks and delays, proposing mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct regular project performance reviews and variance analysis.
  • Maintain up-to-date dashboards and reports for senior leadership.

 

Resource & Cost Management:

  • Allocate resources efficiently to optimize productivity and reduce costs.
  • Work closely with commercial and procurement teams to align schedules with cost plans.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting project timelines and costs.

 

Stakeholder Coordination:

  • Liaise with project managers, contractors, consultants, and clients to ensure project deadlines are met.
  • Attend project meetings and provide planning insights.
  • Ensure all stakeholders are informed of schedule updates and changes.

 

Risk Management & Compliance:

  • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual, legal, and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement best practices for planning and scheduling in construction.
  • Drive innovation and encourage continuous improvement and cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.

 

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in construction planning, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and other planning tools.
  • Strong understanding of FIDIC contracts and UAE construction regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in high-rise, infrastructure, or large-scale commercial projects.
  • Knowledge of Lean Construction and Value Engineering principles.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in the use of relevant software applications.
  • Good understanding of data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and implement improvements in processes.
