JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible for the provision of safe, effective, evidence-based and comprehensive physiotherapy services to designated unit/s

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists the Supervisor Physiotherapist (assigned line manager) to ensure the section of the Physiotherapy team to provide an efficient and effective high-quality service/s to a designated area/s.
  • Contributes to the sustainable implementation of plans (strategic, financial, quality/patient safety, accessibility/marketing, manpower/cultural diversity, risk, infection control, equipment/technology) for effective and efficient business and clinical practice and patient satisfaction for the designated area
  • Assists the supervisor to manage/develop the allocated M3/M1 members of the physiotherapy team on their units/designated areas including objective setting, appraisals, skill and equipment competency and training, duty rosters, annual leave, supervision and reflective practice and the delegation of tasks, etc
  • Ensures self and M3/M1 staff members on their designated unit/s are aware and aligned with vision, mission, values, national licensing, organizational & departmental policies, clinical guidelines, mandatory competencies (e.g. Basic Life Support, Infection Control, Fire Safety, etc) and SSMC compliance guidelines (as below)
  • Ensures clinical and environmental risk identification
  • Provides support as a proxy to the supervisor in their absence
  • Maintains clinical specialization in assigned specialist area/s
  • Facilitates effective teaching skills and experience for facilitation of staff/intern/student development – expected to facilitate a minimum of 1 student/intern per year
  • Facilitates the delivery of high standard of specialized clinical care of patient’s in the designated unit/s, including own caseload and supporting and facilitating other members of the physiotherapy team to do likewise. Use evidence-based practice and appropriate external collaboration to guide informed consent, assessment, goal setting/treatment planning, effective treatment, evaluation/re-evaluation of outcomes and appropriate

progression/discharge planning

  • Communicates effectively with patients, relatives and other care providers on a group or individual basis in order to maximize rehabilitative potential. This may require explanation instruction, persuasion, motivation, negotiation and reassurance or the use of behavioural modification techniques
  • Maintains and assisting in the enforcement of up-to-date clinical and professional knowledge development, according to organizational/unit/s requirements (e.g. minimum of CPD / CME hours per year required for re-licensing)
  • Maintains sufficient inventory of material supplies and equipment for performance of duties

Accountabilities

  • Manages clinical and operational performance measurement (safety, efficiency, effectiveness and satisfaction) and management for assigned unit/s
  • Ensures junior staff (M3/M1) on assigned unit/s performance and development as well as adaptation and change management in a rapidly changing environment

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience :-

Required:

  • NLT 5 years: as a Physiotherapist in a large hospital in relevant experience with patients with same diagnosis seen in acute care hospital or Rehab Facilities)) Wide background is preferred (i.e. ICU, acute medical/surg 1 year demonstrated leadership
  • UAE National: NLT 5 years relevant experience in an acute care hospital

Desired:

  • N.A.

Educational Qualification: Required:

  • BSc in Physiotherapy,
  • Graduate from an accredited Diploma course in Physiotherapy, (NLT 3 year’s syllabus).
  • AND Current National License

Desired:

  • Masters in Rehabilitation Services or relevant clinical Msc in related field. (will reduce 1 year from the required years of experience)
