The jobholder is responsible to perform the panel and field operations for the Offsite & Utilities Plant in Borouge’s Ruwais Complex to ensure adherence to Borouge’s HSE requirements and maximizing plant yield and to meet the required operations’ target, specifications and quantities. This role includes; operating, monitoring and controlling the assigned units of the plant, while complying to the safety, operation and condition of an assigned operating area including all equipment, right product quality, maintaining all equipment in proper operating condition, and reporting any anomalies noted to the Shift Supervisor.
Key Accountabilities
Safety Compliance
Participate the departmental safety, health and housekeeping meetings, plant inspection tours and to ensure proper implementing of Borouge’s policies in safety, health, and environment.
Adhere to all safety, fire and security rules and regulations, including the use of protective clothing and equipment to ensure that all personnel working in his area comply with safety procedures.
Foster collaboration and compliance to Operations and HSE policies and procedures
Carry out assigned Operational work safely to assigned standards in line with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
Log operating incidents and discuss incidents with the Supervisor to ensure efficient running of the operating units.
Panel Operation
Operate, monitor and control the assigned work area safely & efficiently, to achieve target plant yield without any hydrocarbon loss and within emission limits, and ensure effective hand-over on shift changes.
Monitor control panel, diagnoses abnormal situations, initiates operational adjustments and maintains a continuous check on the operating plants.
Take reading of essential instruments to ensure that equipment is operated within the specified parameters and limits.
Record and report serious operational deviations to the supervisor and takes immediate remedial corrective actions.
Supervise and perform the alterations of speeds, temperatures, pressures and flow rates as necessary for Adequate control of operations during start-ups, shutdowns and emergencies.
Ensure that all capabilities of the Integrated Control System are fully utilized to improve plant efficiency, product quality and safety.
Review and analysis outside log sheet readings at regular intervals with control room instrumentation to make sure that they correlate.
Verify the operations of rotating and stationery plant equipment to ensure proper functioning.
Operate electronic, and critical instruments on plant control panel governing the operation of highly complicated process and non-process operating units, such as, compressors, turbines, utilities, flare systems, waste water treatment and storage areas.
Reviews on-line analysers and laboratory results and makes the necessary tuning of the control panel instruments or guides the field Operators to do necessary changes to ensure that products meet the specified quantities and qualities.
Controls operating plant start-ups, shutdowns and emergencies. Includes controlling the alterations of temperatures, pressures and flow rates as necessary.
Quality Interface
Ensure integrity functional tests, change over routines and other scheduled verification tasks are completed efficiently and maintain the appropriate records & documents.
Review on-line analysers and laboratory results and makes the necessary fine-tuning of the control panel instruments or guides field operators to do necessary fine-tuning to ensure that products meet the specified quantities and qualities.
Ensure that normal and extra quality control and environmental samples are taken according to instructions and ensures that all samples are registered to LIMS system.
Keep the Shift Supervisor fully advised on all related aspects and obtains guidance when necessary.
Field Operation
Carry out regular and detailed inspection of all machinery and equipment used in operations as well as fixed equipment such as vessels and heat exchangers to ensure the accurate and proper functioning of each item independently and in synchronization with other equipment and plant.
Adjust or assist others in adjusting a variety of valves and switches governing rates of flow and levels of pressure, temperature and chemical to ensure the correct output of specified products.
Carry out independently as directed various routine adjustments, skimming and drainage activities, cooperate with different disciplines of maintenance and advises control room immediately of anomalies or difficulties in operations.
Take daily log readings and complete checklist from indicators and gauges or instruments located on equipment in the operating area.
Record and inform the control room Operator of apparent deviations from specified operating conditions and makes minor routine adjustments as required.
Assist in shutdown and start-up operations by adjusting and monitoring the alterations of speeds, temperatures, pressures and flow rates as necessary.
Ensure that chemicals to be used in his respective area are of the correct type, adds various chemicals, prepare solutions, adjusts and monitors dosing rates as specified while following all HSE procedures and rules.
Carry out sampling and as required laboratory analysis on various streams and reports results to his supervisor for corrective action as deemed necessary.
Carry out the isolation, de-isolation and preparation for maintenance work or operation, according to operating procedures of various items of plant for maintenance activities.
Follow up on maintenance work in his area to ensure that jobs are progressing safely and work permit conditions are followed.
Measure and monitor flammable gases and working environment according shift supervisor’s instruction.
Minimum Qualification
Diploma in Technical Disciplines, or equivalent qualifications.
Good knowledge of English – Spoken and written
HSE Foundation Training
Distribution Control System (DCS) Certification
Minimum of 6 years’ experience in Offsite and Utilities plant operations for Oil & Gas / Petrochemical
