Job Description

The Senior Officer - Payables is a critical role in the finance department, responsible for overseeing the company's accounts payable functions. This position is integral to maintaining the financial integrity and accuracy of the organization’s expenditure records. The Senior Officer will manage the timely and accurate processing of invoices, ensure compliance with established policies and procedures, and collaborate with various departments to resolve any payment issues. This role requires a confident individual with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a high level of integrity. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in accounts payable, excellent communication skills, and the capability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the accounts payable team for optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing and recording of all accounts payable transactions.
  • Monitor and reconcile accounts payable ledger to ensure its accuracy and completeness.
  • Implement and maintain internal control systems to safeguard company assets.
  • Prepare and provide necessary reports on the accounts payable process to management.
  • Ensure compliance with the company's policies and relevant financial regulations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for vendors regarding payment inquiries and issues.
  • Review vendor contracts and terms to ensure payment processes align with agreements.
  • Collaborate with the procurement and other departments to resolve invoice discrepancies.
  • Lead initiatives to improve and streamline the accounts payable process.
  • Coach and develop team members to enhance their performance and productivity.
  • Prepare and assist with audits and ensure documentation is readily available and accurate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field is required.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in accounts payable management.
  • Strong knowledge of financial and accounting principles and procedures.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Excellent analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and supervisory skills are required.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
