Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION
The role is responsible for independently conducting all operations related to nuclear medicine. The role is also responsible to monitor and/or supervise junior employees and make sure that all standards of operational procedures are being followed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversees and tracks shortages of materials, orders and approves replenishments when necessary
Prepares radiopharmaceuticals for use in patient studies. Performs quality control checks of pharmaceuticals
Performs calibration, chemical purity checks and percentage yields to ensure the integrity of solutions to avoid unnecessary radiation exposure
Assists and follows physicians orders to determine appropriate radiopharmaceutical and dosage.
Facilitates and presents program image recording system and forwards recorded images in the proper format to physicians
Provides aseptic dispensing of precise radiopharmaceutical patient doses, and is competent in the intravenous, oral and inhalation administration of radiopharmaceuticals and radio-labeled blood products to patients
Manages to record and is able to recognize potential risks and contraindications to radiopharmaceutical administrations, and should be able to assist patients.
Performs quality assurance checks on dose calibrator equipment used to assay radiopharmaceutical doses
Ensures effective cleaning of the sterile isolator prior to use; performs radionuclide and chemical purity checks; uses settle plates to monitor airborne microbial contamination, and monitors for radiation contamination
Conducts daily or periodic checks and calibration of imaging and non-imaging equipment, and radiation contamination monitoring.
Accountabilities
Ensures physical accuracy and hand-eye coordination while performing venopuncture on and insertion of cannulae into adult patients, taking blood samples as required for Nuclear Medicine, and other, tests
Ensures patients receive the highest standard of medical care.
Updates patient examination history file, recording unusual conditions and document all records
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience :-
Required:
NLT 4 years clinical experience in Nuclear Medicine; 2 of them should have been at a senior supervisory or management level.
UAE National: NLT 2 years relevant experience in an acute care hospital
Knowledge of computer science will be expected.
Knowledge of nuclear hematology will be advantageous.

Educational Qualification: Required:
Bachelor’s degree or Diploma or its equivalent from an accredited institution in Nuclear Medicine Imaging (minimum three (3) years course duration) One (1) year of experience post qualification in the Nuclear Medicine field
Associate degree (minimum two (2) years course duration) from an accredited program in Nuclear Medicine
And Valid Registration or Certification
Two (2) years of experience post qualification in the Nuclear Medicine field
Bachelor/Diploma/Associate degree in a Radiography /Radiology Technology or Medical Imaging program And Diploma/Master of minimum one (1) year in Nuclear Medicine Two (2) years of experience post qualification in the Nuclear Medicine field
AND Valid Registration or Certification
Bachelor/Diploma/Associate degree in a Radiography /Radiology Technology or Medical Imaging program And Diploma/Master of minimum one (1) year in Nuclear Medicine
Two (2) years of experience post qualification in the Nuclear Medicine field
Desired:
Masters in Nuclear Medicine or relevant clinical Msc in related field. (will reduce 1 year from the required years of experience)
