Job Description

The Senior Merchandising Officer is a critical position responsible for overseeing the strategic planning and execution of merchandising activities to maximize sales and profitability. This role requires a deep understanding of market trends, customer preferences, and the competitive landscape to drive the organization's growth. The Senior Merchandising Officer will work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, supply chain, and sales, to develop and implement merchandising strategies that align with the company's overall goals. By leveraging data analytics and customer insights, this individual will play a key role in product selection, pricing strategies, and promotional activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proven track record of success in merchandising or a related field.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive merchandising strategies to drive business growth.
  • Conduct market research to identify emerging trends and market opportunities.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate favorable pricing and terms for products.
  • Analyze sales data to identify patterns and adjust merchandising strategies accordingly.
  • Work closely with marketing to coordinate product launches and promotions.
  • Ensure product offerings are aligned with customer preferences and company brand.
  • Monitor inventory levels to prevent stockouts and excess stock scenarios.
  • Lead merchandising teams in achieving departmental goals and objectives.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior management review and decision-making.
  • Develop training programs to improve team skill sets and knowledge in merchandising.
  • Identify areas for process improvement to enhance merchandising efficiency.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in merchandising or retail management.
  • Proven track record of developing successful merchandising strategies and campaigns.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex sales data.
  • Excellent leadership qualities with experience managing merchandising teams.
  • Superior negotiation skills to achieve favorable supplier agreements and terms.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective collaboration.
  • Proficiency in merchandising software and tools for data-driven decision making.
  • Adept at multitasking and managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • In-depth knowledge of retail sales principles and customer service practices.
