Job Description

The Senior Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Manager is a pivotal role within our organization, dedicated to ensuring a safe and compliant working environment. This position is crucial for developing and implementing health and safety programs that protect our employees, stakeholders, and the environment. The Senior HSE Manager will lead a team of professionals to perform risk assessments, audits, and inspections, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and corporate policies. Working closely with all levels of management, the role involves strategic planning and operational oversight of HSE initiatives, promoting a culture of safety awareness and proactiveness. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, significant leadership qualities, and a proven track record in HSE management within a similar industry. They will need to stay current with legislative changes and be capable of conducting training sessions to educate staff across all departments.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Lead and mentor the HSE team to ensure alignment with safety objectives and goals.
  • Coordinate and conduct risk assessments, inspections, and audits of all operational processes.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal HSE regulations and standards.
  • Act as a liaison between regulatory bodies and the organization during audits and inspections.
  • Design and deliver health and safety training programs to employees at all organizational levels.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on HSE performance and incidents to senior management.
  • Collaborate with management teams to identify areas for process improvements related to safety.
  • Maintain and update HSE documentation, ensuring accuracy and accessibility for stakeholders.
  • Foster a company-wide culture of health, safety, and environmental responsibility and awareness.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of hazard control strategies and make necessary adjustments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • A minimum of eight years of experience in HSE management within a relevant industry.
  • Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or CSP are highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
  • Excellent leadership and training skills with experience managing a team of HSE professionals.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex safety challenges.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with safety management software systems.
