Job Description

About POWERTECH

POWERTECH is a center of excellence for propulsion technologies, specializing in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of combustion engines, expendable turbojet engines, and turbofan engines for a wide range of aerospace, defence, and autonomous applications, including fixed- and rotary-wing UAVs and other advanced platforms.

Job Summary

Powertech is seeking a motivated Engineer I – Design & Simulation (Additive Manufacturing) to drive the digital front-end of our AM workflow. You will support component teams in converting functional requirements into manufacturable engineering solutions, investigate and explore innovative design concepts for competitive advantage, and deliver technical outputs such as CAD models, build files, and documentation. Working closely with materials, process, and post-processing teams, you will play a key role in shortening the concept-to-hardware cycle and advancing our propulsion systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop robust DfAM design solutions considering manufacturability, safety, weight, lifecycle costs, maintainability, and reparability.
  • Collaborate with component teams to identify additive manufacturing opportunities within current and future product portfolios.
  • Build and calibrate thermo-mechanical AM simulations to predict distortion, residual stresses, and support requirements.
  • Deliver accurate CAD models, build files, drawings, and operating procedures in compliance with company guidelines.
  • Apply analytical methods and tools to validate parts and assemblies.
  • Maintain design rulebooks and train junior engineers in AM best practices.
  • Actively contribute to design reviews, ensuring compliance with standards, certification requirements, and end-user specifications.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: BEng/BSc or MEng/MSc in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years in design or manufacturing engineering, ideally with a focus on Additive Manufacturing (AM).
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles and related disciplines (manufacturing engineering, thermodynamics, aerodynamics).
  • Proficiency with CAD software (Siemens NX, SolidWorks) and AM/FEA tools (e.g., Magics, Ansys AM, nTop).
  • Demonstrated experience delivering DfAM projects from concept to printed and tested hardware.

Desirable:

  • Experience with build-simulation compensation workflows and correlation with melt-pool monitoring data.
  • Familiarity with lattice optimization, field-driven design, and generative design algorithms.

Why Join Powertech?

At Powertech, part of Edge Group, you’ll work on the cutting edge of aerospace propulsion and additive manufacturing. This role offers the opportunity to innovate, collaborate with world-class teams, and accelerate your career while contributing to the UAE’s advanced engineering and defense capabilities.
