Senior Engineer CandE - Antenna Systems Design

ADVANCED CONCEPTS is an entity within EDGE dedicated to the design and deployment of advanced, innovative technologies.

ADVANCED CONCEPTS is fast-tracking the development of high-technology autonomous systems, including three Medium Endurance, High Altitude, fixed-wing unmanned aerial systems, a family of precision loitering munitions, a cost- effective family of cruise missiles, and a range of guided artillery munitions.

Core Accountabilities:

• Define and design antenna architectures for long-range wireless communication systems
• Define and design antenna architectures for small radar systems
• Design and implement new communication and electronics subsystems as related to antennas and antenna systems
• Define and design antenna measurement systems and setups
• Simulate and validate antenna performance when installed on platforms
• Participate in field-tests for systems and suggest optimal antenna placement and ways to optimize performance
• Write technical reports and keep up to date with developments in relevant technology
• Investigate and conduct root cause analysis to identify defects and system problems, and propose viable solutions
• Recommend design modifications and equipment updates
• Knowledge of electro-optical communication system front-ends
• Knowledge of front-end RF protection systems
• Support, lead and mentor junior engineers and share knowledge
  
  

• Bachelor’s or masters degree in computer science, communication, electronic, software engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in antenna system design
• Experience with high frequency simulation tools
• Experience with antennas for avionics
• Experience with antenna array systems
• Experience with beam-forming / direction finding
• Experience with antenna measurement and characterization
• Experience in RF propagation modelling
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and other stakeholders
• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
