Key Responsibilities:

Design/Engineering Documentation

  • Draft system and subsystem requirement specifications derived from User Requirements.
  • Prepare, review, and approve design specifications.
  • Develop and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
  • Author system, subsystem, and unit-level acceptance and qualification test procedures.
  • Ensure engineering documentation complies with internal processes, quality requirements, and applicable standards.
  • Support deviation management, MRB, and change control documentation.

Electronic Development

  • Design power electronics and other analogue electronic circuits to meet defined performance, reliability, and environmental objectives.
  • Develop digital and mixed-signal electronic designs where required.
  • Create detailed schematics, PCB layouts, and harness designs using ECAD tools.
  • Fabricate prototype units from conceptual sketches and preliminary design inputs.
  • Build, debug, and test prototypes; facilitate and lead formal design reviews.
  • Implement customer-driven and internally driven design improvement concepts.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety, ordinance, and safety-critical device requirements.
  • Review applicable safety regulations and evaluate design compliance.
  • Conduct laboratory testing on components, assemblies, and final products.
  • Analyze test results and recommend design enhancements or corrective actions.
  • Identify, define, and resolve electronic design-related issues throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Implement and monitor design improvements and cost-reduction initiatives across product lines.
  • Review, analyze, and report on product parameter compliance against specifications.

Data Pack Management

  • Support Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), deviations, and concession processes.
  • Maintain strict adherence to configuration management and document control processes.
  • Support production, manufacturing, and field support with accurate and up-to-date data packs.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure all electronic designs comply with applicable military and IPC standards.
  • Review safety, ordinance, and safety-critical requirements and verify compliance.
  • Participate in Material Review Boards (MRB) and Product Configuration Management Boards (PCMB).
  • Analyze test results, identify non-conformances, and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and support continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Component & Material Codification

  • Select electronic components and materials in accordance with company and customer requirements.
  • Ensure component selections support availability, reliability, cost, and obsolescence management.
  • Maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BoMs) and component libraries.
  • Support supplier technical evaluations and component qualification activities.

Mentoring & Leadership

  • Provide technical mentoring and guidance to junior and intermediate engineers.
  • Support skills development, design reviews, and technical decision-making within the team.
  • Promote engineering best practices, quality culture, and accountability

Collaboration with Engineers

  • Work closely with systems, mechanical, software, manufacturing, and test engineers.
  • Support electrical-mechanical integration and packaging activities.
  • Interface internal stakeholders on technical matters.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary design and peer reviews.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for design improvements, cost reductions, and process enhancements.
  • Implement and monitor design improvements across product lines.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Testability (DFT) principles.
  • Support lessons-learned activities and standardization initiatives.

Functional Role

  • Develop analog, digital, mixed-signal, and power electronic designs to meet defined performance and environmental requirements.
  • Design and support servo power electronics and safety-critical electronic systems.
  • Build and debug prototypes from conceptual designs and preliminary sketches.
  • Facilitate and participate in formal design reviews.
  • through qualification, production, and sustainment.

Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic Engineering (BEng).
  • Minimum 6+ years of experience in electrical and electronic design.
  • Proven experience in schematic creation, PCB design, and harness design.
  • Demonstrated experience in the defence industry or other safety-critical environments.
  • Experience supporting the full product lifecycle from concept to production and sustainment.

Key Skills:

  • Experience with electrical harness design and integration.
  • Experience with power electronics and servo power electronics.
  • Proficiency in laboratory testing, instrumentation, and debugging.
  • Ability to translate design concepts into cost-effective, manufacturable solutions.
