Job Description

A Senior Credit Manager is a critical role in the financial sector, responsible for overseeing the credit operations and managing the credit team in an organization. The position involves assessing the creditworthiness of potential clients and ensuring optimal credit risk management practices are followed. The role requires someone with a keen eye for detail and deep knowledge of lending procedures and regulations. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement credit policies and procedures tailored to organizational needs.
  • Assess and evaluate the creditworthiness of potential and existing clients meticulously.
  • Oversee the credit team and ensure compliance with credit policies and legal guidelines.
  • Collaborate with other departments to optimize credit risk strategies and outcomes.
  • Monitor the credit control process to ensure timely collection and mitigate risk.
  • Provide leadership and training to team members, enhancing their credit assessment skills.
  • Prepare detailed reports on the credit department’s operations and financial status.
  • Lead negotiations with clients to resolve credit issues and conflicts amicably.
  • Ensure proper implementation and use of credit scoring systems and tools.
  • Participate actively in periodic reviews and audits of the credit function.
  • Stay updated with the latest regulations and industry best practices pertaining to credit management.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key clients and stakeholders to foster trust.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • A minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in credit management or a similar role.
  • Proven track record of success in managing credit policies and risk assessments.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Comprehensive understanding of credit scoring systems and financial regulations.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills to interact with clients and stakeholders.
