Job Description

The role of a Senior Credit Manager is crucial in ensuring that an organization maintains a healthy cash flow while minimizing the risks associated with credit operations. This position involves the management and oversight of a team responsible for assessing and approving credit for various clients. The Senior Credit Manager must have a deep understanding of credit principles, risk management, and financial analysis. They are tasked with developing and implementing credit strategies that align with the company's overall financial goals. In addition to strategic planning, this professional will be involved in daily operational tasks, including the review of credit applications, collection strategies, and negotiation of credit terms with clients. This position requires strong leadership abilities, exceptional decision-making skills, and the capacity to handle complex financial scenarios efficiently.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee and lead the credit department in credit operations and risk management.
  • Develop and implement credit policies and procedures to minimize financial risks.
  • Evaluate and assess the creditworthiness of potential and existing clients thoroughly.
  • Prepare comprehensive credit reviews and reports for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Guide and mentor junior credit staff to develop their skills and knowledge base.
  • Analyse market conditions to guide strategic decisions regarding credit strategies.
  • Negotiate credit terms and conditions in collaboration with clients and sales teams.
  • Monitor outstanding debtors and implement effective collection strategies and protocols.
  • Liaise with external agents and agencies to assess and recover bad debts efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and internal policies in all credit operations.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients to foster trust and long-term cooperation.
  • Prepare and present detailed credit performance reports to executive management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field.
  • Proven experience of at least five years in a credit management role.
  • Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and financial analysis.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage a credit team effectively.
  • Proven experience in assessing and managing credit and financial risks.
  • Exceptional communication skills for interaction with clients and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in credit management software and advanced Microsoft Office skills.
