We are seeking an experienced Senior Contracts Engineer to manage the contractual and commercial administration of projects during the execution phase. The successful candidate will be responsible for contract administration, variations management, claims preparation and evaluation, subcontract administration, contractual correspondence, and commercial risk management to ensure the organization's contractual rights and obligations are effectively managed throughout project delivery.The role requires strong knowledge of FIDIC contracts, claims management, dispute avoidance, and post-award contract administration within construction, infrastructure, or engineering projects.
Key Accountabilities
Administer contracts throughout the project execution and close-out phases.
Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, rights, and responsibilities.
Interpret contract provisions and advise project teams on contractual matters.
Maintain contract registers, notices, records, and documentation.
Monitor contractual deliverables, milestones, and obligations.
Manage the contractual aspects of variation orders and change requests.
Ensure timely submission and agreement of variation claims.
Identify potential claims arising from delays, disruptions, scope changes, and other contractual events.
Prepare, review, and substantiate contractual claims.
Coordinate with planning, cost control, and project teams to develop claim documentation.
Evaluate contractor and subcontractor claims and prepare recommendations.
Support negotiations to achieve favorable claim settlements.
Review and assess delay events and entitlement under contract provisions.
Maintain records supporting entitlement to time and cost claims.
Draft and review contractual letters, notices, responses, and formal communications.
Ensure contractual notices are issued within prescribed timelines.
Maintain comprehensive records of all contractual communications.
Administer subcontract agreements and monitor subcontractor compliance.
Support commercial negotiations and dispute resolution with subcontractors.
Support the resolution of contractual disputes through negotiation and commercial settlement.
Prepare documentation and contractual analyses for dispute resolution processes.
Liaise with legal advisors and management when required.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills
Minimum 5 years of experience in contract administration and commercial management of construction, infrastructure and/or building engineering.
Proven experience in post-contract administration of large-scale projects.
Demonstrated experience in claims preparation, EOT assessments, and variation management.
Experience managing subcontract administration and commercial correspondence.
Strong knowledge of FIDIC Conditions of Contract (Red Book, Yellow Book, Silver Book).
Sound understanding of claims management principles and contractual entitlement.
Knowledge of dispute resolution procedures and contract law fundamentals.
