About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to lead the design and operation of reliable, scalable systems. This role entails working on distributed services and critical business workflows, requiring thoughtful architectural decisions and end-to-end ownership. The focus is on complex domain modeling and event-driven architectures, with a strong emphasis on correctness and long-term.

Responsibilities

• Designing, building, and operating reliable, scalable backend systems that support critical product workflows.
• Leading architectural decisions within a distributed services environment, taking ownership from design through production.
• Tackling complex backend challenges, including event-driven architectures and deep domain modeling.
• Ensuring high standards of correctness, reliability, and long-term maintainability across the codebase.

Qualifications

• 10+ years experience building and maintaining production backend systems, particularly distributed systems with meaningful scale or complexity.
• Strong proficiency in Python or TypeScript (TypeScript preferred).
• Expertise in system design, data modeling (Relational/NoSQL), and event-driven architectures (including messaging/streaming platforms).
• Experience running services in a cloud environment.
• Ability to navigate technical trade-offs and implement modern testing strategies.
• Experience leveraging AI tools/agents for development.
• Strong communication skills, a collaborative approach, and a genuine passion for software engineering.
