Job Description

A Senior Accountant plays a vital role in the finance team, responsible for overseeing financial accuracy and adherence to regulatory standards. They provide leadership and guidance within the accounting department and manage various financial activities to ensure the company's monetary health. Their primary tasks include preparing financial reports, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, and supporting management with critical financial decisions. In addition to the technical aspects, a Senior Accountant is also a strategic partner to other departments, assisting with budget management and financial planning. They bring significant experience and expertise to the role, combining analytical skills and comprehensive knowledge of financial regulations to drive the company's financial success.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review financial statements and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes accurately and on schedule.
  • Analyze financial data and trends to identify areas for improvement in financial operations.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate the annual audit process efficiently.
  • Support management in budgeting and forecasting activities by providing detailed financial analyses.
  • Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and training as needed.
  • Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded properly.
  • Prepare tax filings and advise management on tax compliance and strategies.
  • Conduct variance analyses and provide insights on financial performance against forecasts.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
  • Implement and manage accounting systems and controls to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in accounting or a similar financial role.
  • Proficient understanding of GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting software, such as QuickBooks or SAP.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to mentor and develop junior staff.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, for internal and external interactions.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Experience in tax preparation and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
