Job Summary


The Section Engineer is responsible for supervising, coordinating, and controlling construction activities within assigned sections of the project to ensure works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and project schedules. The role involves effective management of site teams and subcontractors, resolution of technical and construction issues, coordination with quality and safety teams, and proactive monitoring of progress to achieve project milestones while maintaining quality and safety standards.


Key Responsibilities


Construction Supervision & Execution



  • Ensure all site works within the assigned section are executed in line with approved drawings, specifications, construction programs, and method statements.

  • Supervise and coordinate Site Engineers, General Foremen, and subcontractors to ensure effective deployment of manpower, materials, plant, and equipment.

  • Monitor daily site activities to ensure productivity targets and planned sequences are achieved.

  • Resolve technical and construction-related issues promptly to avoid delays or rework.


Planning, Coordination & Progress Control



  • Coordinate closely with the Construction Manager and Planning team to align site activities with project schedules.

  • Identify potential delays, constraints, or interface issues and report trends to management with recommended corrective actions.

  • Maintain accurate site records, including daily progress reports, manpower logs, and equipment deployment.


Quality Assurance & Control



  • Ensure works comply with approved QA/QC procedures, inspection test plans (ITPs), and quality standards.

  • Coordinate with QA/QC Engineers for inspections, tests, and approvals.

  • Ensure timely completion and submission of inspection requests, checklists, and quality documentation.

  • Monitor subcontractor work quality and ensure rectification of defects or non-conformances.


Safety & Compliance



  • Coordinate closely with the Safety Officer to enforce site safety rules, method statements, and risk assessments.

  • Ensure all works are carried out in compliance with project HSE requirements and statutory regulations.

  • Promote safe work practices and intervene in unsafe conditions or behaviors.


Material & Resource Management



  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and usage of construction materials in accordance with specifications and manufacturer recommendations.

  • Verify material availability and coordinate with procurement and stores teams to avoid shortages or delays.

  • Monitor wastage and support cost control initiatives.


Inspection, Handover & Closeout



  • Participate in internal consultant, and client inspections.

  • Support sectional handover, snag clearance, and final completion activities.

  • Ensure as-built information and site records are accurately maintained for handover documentation.


Required Qualifications & Competencies



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil / Architecture from a recognized institution

  • 8–12 years of experience in civil construction projects (buildings, infrastructure, or large-scale developments)

  • Proven experience managing assigned project sections independently

  • Strong knowledge of civil construction methods, sequencing, and best practices

  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply drawings, specifications, BOQs, and method statements

  • Good understanding of QA/QC procedures, ITPs, inspections, and documentation

  • Experience coordinating and supervising Site Engineers, Foremen, and subcontractors

  • Working knowledge of project schedules, progress monitoring, and reporting

  • Ability to identify construction risks, delays, and interface issues and propose mitigation actions

  • Strong leadership, supervision, and team management skills

  • Effective communication and coordination skills with internal teams, subcontractors, consultants, and clients

  • Good understanding of construction HSE requirements and safe work practices

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and construction-related software
