Job Description

Calling all curious minds who believe science should feel like an adventure, not a lecture.

We're a growing, inquiry-based, internationally accredited American hybrid school on a mission to make learning feel less like a checklist and more like a discovery lab. We serve a wonderfully diverse mix of middle and high school students — third-culture kids, gifted and neurodivergent learners, young entrepreneurs, athletes, and artists — who all share one thing: they learn best when curiosity leads the way.

Here, teachers don't just deliver lessons — they bring the curriculum to life, using their own imagination and creativity to turn standard content into something students actually want to show up for. This role covers general science, biology, and chemistry across grades 6-12, with most instruction happening online and two in-person lab days a week at our Abu Dhabi learning center. With small class sizes, ready-made pacing guides, and a curriculum that does the heavy lifting on structure, you get to spend your energy on what actually matters: relationships, creativity, and igniting a love of discovery.

Why This Role Doesn't Feel Like a Typical Teaching Job

● Teach across a range of subjects — general science, biology, and chemistry — so no two days look the same

● Freedom (and encouragement) to reimagine the curriculum in your own voice — no two classrooms have to feel the same

● In-person science labs twice a week in Abu Dhabi, so students get real hands-on, test-tube-and-goggles experimentation, not just screen time

● Virtual labs and simulations that feel like real experiments on your online days

● Freedom to test wild new tools — simulation apps, data-logging gadgets, interactive platforms — and see what sticks

● A team culture that treats "let's try something different" as a compliment, not a risk

What You'll Actually Be Doing
Teaching & Discovery

● Teach middle and high school students (grades 6-12) across general science, biology, and chemistry

● Run live, energetic science sessions via Zoom, mostly mornings, with flexible time for small-group or 1:1 mentoring

● Lead in-person labs twice a week at the Abu Dhabi learning center, giving students the tactile, get-your-hands-dirty science experience that brings concepts to life

● Take the school's science curriculum and infuse it with your own imagination and teaching style, adapting pace and delivery to fit real students, not a script

● Guide virtual labs and simulations that let students touch, test, and question the world on online days

● Bring in real-world data, digital modeling tools, and interactive platforms to fuel investigation and "wait, why does that happen?" moments

● Grade and provide timely feedback across all three subject areas — general science, biology, and chemistry — using LMS tools to track engagement and progress

Relationship Building

● Get to know your students through Welcome Calls, orientation chats, and consistent check-ins

● Coach students through designing their own investigations and drawing their own conclusions from evidence

● Spot who needs a boost, who needs a challenge, and who needs a completely different explanation — then deliver it

● Keep families in the loop with clear, warm communication about progress

Collaboration & Culture

● Swap ideas with fellow teachers who are just as into experimenting with new lab tricks as you are

● Join a professional learning community focused on making both online and in-person science instruction genuinely great

● Occasionally show up for virtual or in-person STEM events, because science is more fun together

Requirements

What We're Looking For

● Bachelor's degree required (Education, Science, or a STEM field preferred); actively finishing your degree? Still apply

● Experience teaching secondary science, ideally across general science, biology, and chemistry

● Comfort with both virtual and in-person labs, simulations, and inquiry-based teaching

● Familiarity with LMS platforms like Canvas, Schoology, or Google Classroom

● Strong command of English communication skills

● Comfort with video conferencing, digital whiteboards, and simulation software

● Must be based in or near Abu Dhabi to attend in-person lab days

● Organized, adaptable, and able to thrive working independently, plus comfortable leading a room during in-person lab days

The Details

● Approximately 20 hours per week: mostly morning live online sessions, plus two in-person lab days at the Abu Dhabi learning center, with flexible time for planning and grading

● Covers middle and high school (grades 6-12), teaching and grading general science, biology, and chemistry

● Room to grow into full-time

● Competitive pay based on experience

● Fully covered tuition for your own kids if they're enrolled as students

● A team that actually wants your wildest teaching ideas, not just your lesson plans
