Job Description

The Sea Freight Coordinator is a crucial role in the logistics and shipping industry, responsible for the efficient and timely coordination of sea freight activities. This position involves dealing with both local and international shipping processes, logistics coordination, documentation, and customer service. The Sea Freight Coordinator acts as a link between the shipping company and clients, ensuring that shipments are managed in a cost-effective and timely manner. The role requires comprehensive knowledge of shipping logistics, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. The ideal candidate should have strong communication skills for liaising with shipping lines, agents, and freight forwarders, as well as the ability to resolve any issues related to freight logistics promptly.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and arrange sea freight movements for both imports and exports.
  • Ensure all shipping documentation is completed accurately and timely.
  • Maintain communication with shipping lines and freight forwarders to track shipments.
  • Handle customer inquiries and provide accurate information on shipment status.
  • Work closely with customs brokers to facilitate smooth customs clearance processes.
  • Monitor shipping costs and optimize logistics to ensure cost-efficiency.
  • Prepare and distribute shipping schedules and reports to relevant stakeholders.
  • Negotiate contracts and shipping rates with carriers and shipping agents.
  • Resolve any issues or discrepancies that may arise during shipment processes.
  • Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all shipping transactions and activities.
  • Collaborate with the sales and procurement teams on shipment planning and execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in sea freight coordination or logistics.
  • Strong knowledge of international shipping laws and regulations.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in using shipping management and logistics software systems.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, for client interactions.
  • Ability to handle and resolve complex logistics-related issues promptly.
