About The Job

Based at the Emirates palace Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi within the Sales Department, The Sales Manager – China Markets is responsible for achieving hotel targets by optimising revenue through an assigned account base, as well as prospecting new clients within assigned markets in China. Assigned markets may change according to the hotel’s needs. The primary measure of performance will be achievement against revenue goals. The Sales Manager – China Markets reports to the Director of Commercial Strategy/ Director of Sales.

As a Sales Manager China Markets, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Responsible for key account management on an assigned account base or geographic area, ensuring revenue maximization, achievement of personal targets and increasing fair market share versus competitor set
  • Accountable for prospecting new accounts
  • Leads all segments of assigned geographical markets
  • Performs site inspections
  • Adhere to the Corporate SOP’s
  • Manages follow-up on tentative bookings within assigned markets
  • Possesses detailed knowledge of the competitor set
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of all hotel services, facilities and relevant facts and figures
  • Manages timely contracting processes for the assigned client portfolio
  • SMART contracting to ensure optimum yielding during annual rate negotiations
  • Attend trade shows, sales blitz, workshops, etc. in the assigned markets
  • Assist the Director of Sales / Director of Commercial Strategy in defining an annual sales action plan and execute set actions accordingly
  • Assist the Director of Sales / Director of Commercial Strategy with the preparation of the annual budget by providing statistics and forecasts of account productions
  • Execute sales actions within set cost budget structure
  • Document all sales actions in SFA (S&C)
  • Always update OPERA contact database
  • Understand, and follow the Hotels Sales Vision
  • Participation in Duty Manager rota

As a Sales Manager – China Markets, we expect from you:

  • Degree holder in Management or related discipline
  • At least 5 years solid experience in similar capacity, preferably in luxury hospitality field
  • Excellent communications skills, articulate and compelling communication style
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Preferably proficient in Mandarin language
