Road Safety Coordinator

Position: Road Safety Coordinator

Industry: Oil & Gas / EPC / Construction

Experience Required: Minimum 5+ Years in Oil & Gas Plant Projects

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain the Road Transport Safety Management System (RTSMS) in accordance with company and client requirements.


• Monitor and control all project vehicle movements, ensuring compliance with approved journey management procedures.


• Conduct vehicle inspections and verify compliance with project and client standards before mobilization.


• Ensure all drivers possess valid licenses, required certifications, and client approvals.


• Conduct defensive driving assessments and monitor driver competency.


• Coordinate and implement Journey Management Plans (JMP) for personnel and material transportation activities.


• Monitor driver behavior, including speed limits, seat belt usage, fatigue management, and adherence to traffic rules.


• Review and maintain records related to vehicle inspections, driver qualifications, permits, and transportation documentation.


• Carry out regular road safety audits, inspections, and spot checks on project vehicles and drivers.


• Investigate road traffic incidents, near misses, and unsafe acts, and prepare detailed investigation reports with corrective actions.


• Ensure compliance with client road safety requirements, ADNOC standards, and applicable UAE traffic regulations.


• Organize and deliver road safety inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns for drivers and employees.


• Coordinate with transport supervisors, logistics teams, and HSE personnel to improve transportation safety performance.


• Monitor vehicle tracking systems (GPS/IVMS) and analyze driver performance reports.


• Ensure effective implementation of fatigue management and emergency response procedures related to transportation activities.


• Participate in HSE meetings, audits, and client inspections as required.


• Prepare and submit periodic road safety reports, statistics, and KPIs to management.

Qualifications

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in engineering, Safety, or a related discipline.


• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Road Safety Coordinator/Supervisor in Oil & Gas, EPC, or Industrial Construction projects.


• Experience working on major Oil & Gas projects and shutdown/turnaround activities is preferred.


• Knowledge of ADNOC Road Safety Standards is an added advantage.

Mandatory Requirements

• Valid UAE Driving License.


• Certification in Defensive Driving or Road Safety Management preferred.


• NEBOSH IGC/IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent HSE qualification preferred.


• Good knowledge of Journey Management Systems, IVMS, and fleet safety requirements.


• Familiarity with UAE Traffic Laws and client-specific transportation safety standards.
