As a Retail Buyer, your primary responsibility will be to source and procure merchandise for a retail establishment. You will be responsible for selecting the right products, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring that the retail store maintains a profitable and attractive product assortment. Your role involves staying updated with market trends, understanding customer preferences, and making data-driven decisions to drive sales and enhance the retail business's overall profitability.
Responsibilities:
Identifying customer preferences and forecasting consumer trends
Evaluating supplier options according to prices, quality etc. and determining the best choices
Discovering and purchasing new products and checking the quality and popularity of those already on our shelves
Conduct market research to identify current and emerging trends in the retail industry.
Analyze sales data, customer preferences, and historical buying patterns to make informed decisions about the product assortment.
Select and curate merchandise that aligns with the store's target market and brand image.
Identify potential suppliers and build strong relationships with them.
Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to secure favourable deals and ensure competitive product costs.
Manage supplier performance and address any issues or discrepancies promptly.
Monitor and control inventory levels to optimize stock levels and minimize overstock or stockouts.
Forecast demand and plan inventory replenishment to meet customer needs.
Set pricing strategies that balance customer demand, market trends, and profitability goals.
Monitor product performance and adjust prices as needed to maximize revenue and margin.
Ensure that all purchased products meet quality standards and comply with relevant regulations and safety requirements.
Conduct quality checks and inspections as needed.
Plan for seasonal changes and promotional events, ensuring that the product assortment is relevant and appealing to customers.
Collaborate with the marketing team to support promotional campaigns.
Analyze sales data, inventory turnover, and product performance to identify opportunities and areas for improvement.
Prepare regular reports on sales, inventory, and buying activities for management review.
Attend trade shows and supplier visits to discover new products and suppliers, and to stay updated with industry trends.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Retail Management, or a related field is preferred.
Proven experience as a Retail Buyer or in a similar role, with a track record of successful buying decisions.
Deep knowledge of retail industry trends, consumer behaviour, and market dynamics in the UAE.
Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
Outstanding communication abilities

Demonstrable aptitude in effective negotiating
Up to speed with purchasing best practicesAnalytical mindset and the ability to use data to drive buying decisions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with suppliers and internal teams.
Familiarity with inventory management and retail software systems.
Proficiency in English and Arabic (spoken and written) is preferred, given the multicultural environment in the UAE.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
