Job Description

A Respiratory Therapist plays a crucial role in healthcare by providing specialized care for patients experiencing cardiopulmonary issues. They work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, and home healthcare environments, to assess and treat patients who are dealing with respiratory illnesses and disorders. This role involves direct patient interaction, where therapists utilize advanced technology and medical expertise to manage and improve the breathing capabilities of individuals. They're responsible for conducting diagnostic tests, implementing treatment plans, and ensuring effective respiratory therapy interventions. A deep understanding of respiratory conditions, strong patient-care skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with medical teams are essential in delivering focused and effective patient outcomes.


Responsibilities:

  • Administer respiratory therapy treatments, adhering to physician recommendations and care plans.
  • Monitor patient's responses and progress, adjusting treatments as needed.
  • Conduct diagnostic tests like pulmonary function and blood gas analysis.
  • Educate patients and families about respiratory health and disease prevention.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement patient treatment plans.
  • Manage and maintain respiratory therapy equipment, ensuring optimal functionality.
  • Respond to respiratory emergencies by providing immediate and appropriate care.
  • Document patient care activities, maintaining accurate and detailed records.
  • Participate in patient assessment rounds with the healthcare team.
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in respiratory therapy practices.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior staff and respiratory therapy students.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies at all times.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Valid license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a clinical respiratory therapy role.
  • Proficient in using respiratory therapy equipment and diagnostic tools.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with patients and medical teams.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as needed.
  • Proven ability to manage emergency situations with a calm demeanor.
