As a Resident Engineer – Cables, you will lead and oversee the execution of underground cable infrastructure projects, ensuring all civil works are delivered in line with design specifications, quality standards, and health, safety, and environmental requirements. You will act as the primary on-site representative, coordinating contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure efficient delivery of high-voltage cable systems within schedule and budget.
Your role
Lead and supervise the construction of underground cable projects, including trenching, duct banks, cable laying, joint bays, and associated civil works.
Ensure all works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and project standards.
Monitor contractor performance, progress, and compliance with quality and HSE requirements.
Review and approve contractor submissions such as method statements, shop drawings, and material submittals.
Conduct regular site inspections and enforce QA/QC procedures throughout project execution.
Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, and utility teams to ensure seamless integration of cable systems.
Act as the primary liaison between client, contractor, and supervision team on-site.
Identify and resolve technical issues, construction challenges, and contractual matters.
Manage project schedules, monitor progress, and implement corrective actions where required.
Maintain detailed site documentation, reports, and records of project activities.
Lead site meetings, progress reviews, and communicate project status, risks, and mitigation plans.
Oversee testing, commissioning support, and final handover of cable infrastructure works.
About You
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
10+ years of experience in infrastructure or utility projects, with strong experience in underground cable works.
Proven experience in managing and supervising high-voltage cable or utility infrastructure projects.
Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, QA/QC practices, and HSE regulations.
Familiarity with international standards and GCC/UAE regulations is highly desirable.
Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities.
Excellent communication, reporting, and stakeholder management skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Proficiency in MS Office and project management tools; knowledge of Primavera or MS Project is an advantage.
Ability to work on-site and travel within the region as required.
