Job Description

Job Description

The Mechanical Engineering Department at the United Arab Emirates University is seeking a research assistant in the area of computational catalysis to support experimental work pertinent to H2 production from dry reforming of methane over metal organic frameworks. The research assistant should be knowledgeable of using DFT codes such VASP to obtain structural, thermal, and electronic properties of MOF-based materials and to map out reaction pathways that lead to the formation of H2/CO.

Minimum Qualification

The short-term position (6 months) is to provide theoretical insight into experimental work. Detailed tasks of the position include: -Optimizing catalytic surfaces that mediate the production of H2 from dry reforming of methane. -Acquiring properties of the materials via DFT calculations. -Constructing reaction mechanisms for the catalyzed formation of H2.

Preferred Qualification

  • PhD in Computational Condensed Matter
  • Command in running DFT codes on HPC
  • Be adaptable and flexible to the continuous changes associated with research demands
  • Commitment to work closely with other researchers in the project
  • Publications on areas related to computational catalysis.
