Job Description

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team of healthcare professionals. The successful candidate will provide high-quality patient care to critically ill children and their families in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. You will work closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure that all patients receive efficient, timely, and effective care. Our PICU is a state-of-the-art facility designed to meet the unique medical and emotional needs of pediatric patients. Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, and implement individualized care plans for pediatric patients in the ICU.
  • Monitor vital signs and provide continuous medical support during each patient's treatment.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the healthcare providers.
  • Coordinate and communicate with multidisciplinary teams to provide patient-centered care.
  • Perform and assist in emergency procedures, ensuring all care is in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Educate and support families regarding treatment plans, prognosis, and possible outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within electronic health records systems.
  • Participate in unit meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and professional development activities.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment for pediatric patients and their families.
  • Support a culture of teamwork, professional respect, and mutual understanding within the unit.
  • Stay updated on the latest pediatric care protocols and techniques.
  • Foster a supportive environment to aid in patient recovery and wellness.

Requirements

  • Current and valid Registered Nursing license in the relevant state or region.
  • Minimum of two years of nursing experience in a pediatric or critical care setting.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree or equivalent education is required.
  • Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be current.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
  • Ability to work effectively in high-stress, dynamic, and challenging environments.
  • A compassionate and empathetic attitude towards patients and their families is necessary.
