Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse for our Operating Theater (OT) to join our medical team. The ideal candidate will have exceptional skills in managing preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care for surgical patients. As a Registered Nurse in the OT, you will play a critical role in ensuring that operations run smoothly, efficiently, and safely. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care, adhering to the highest standards of nursing practice. Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain sterility of the operating room and instruments at all times.
  • Assist the surgical team during operative procedures by providing necessary instruments.
  • Monitor the patient’s vital signs and respond to any emergency situations promptly.
  • Administer medications and manage intravenous lines as instructed by the surgeon or anesthetist.
  • Ensure surgical specimens are properly handled and sent to laboratory for analysis.
  • Document patient information, including surgical procedures and postoperative care accurately.
  • Educate patients and families about preoperative and postoperative care requirements.
  • Coordinate with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care and outcomes.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment following infection control protocols rigorously.
  • Participate in ongoing training and pursue continuing education to stay up-to-date in the nursing field.
  • Foster a supportive and professional environment for patients, families, and staff members.
  • Evaluate patient recovery and readiness for discharge, ensuring a smooth transition to home care.

Requirements

  • Current and valid state Registered Nurse license .
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or relevant field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a surgical or operating theater setting.
  • Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and the ability to anticipate surgeon needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with team and patients.
  • Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
  • Ability to stand for long periods while maintaining a high level of concentration.
