The Registered Nurse (ICU) specializes in delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to critically ill and high-acuity patients within the Intensive Care Unit. The role involves continuous patient assessment, advanced monitoring, and management of complex clinical conditions, including mechanically ventilated and hemodynamically unstable patients. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, the ICU Nurse ensures optimal patient outcomes, promotes patient safety, and supports the delivery of exceptional critical care services while contributing to staff development, quality improvement, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to M42’s policies, procedures, and regulatory standards while maintaining the highest levels of professionalism, patient confidentiality, and clinical governance.
  • Provide comprehensive critical care nursing assessments, develop individualized care plans, and deliver evidence-based nursing interventions for critically ill patients in ICU and high-dependency settings.
  • Deliver advanced nursing care for mechanically ventilated, tracheostomized, and hemodynamically unstable patients, ensuring continuous monitoring and adherence to critical care best practices.
  • Administer medications, vasoactive infusions, blood products, and complex therapies while assisting with advanced clinical procedures in accordance with ICU protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Recognize, assess, and respond promptly to patient deterioration, utilizing critical thinking and clinical judgment to initiate appropriate interventions and escalate care when required.
  • Collaborate closely with intensivists, physicians, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care, effective communication, and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, provide comprehensive patient handovers, and support continuity of care throughout the patient's critical care journey.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, infection prevention programs, patient safety activities, and evidence-based practice initiatives within the ICU.
  • Support professional development through mentorship, supervision of junior nurses, participation in education and research activities, continuous learning, and compliance with mandatory training and licensure requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 3 years of post-qualification ICU/Critical Care nursing experience, including management of critically ill, mechanically ventilated, and high-acuity patients.
  • Current nursing license in the country of origin and eligibility for DOH/DHA licensure.
  • Critical Care certifications such as ICU, ACLS, BLS, or equivalent specialty certifications are highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, medication titration, and emergency response protocols within a critical care environment.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; Arabic language skills are an advantage.
