A JOB THAT INSPIRES YOU
Join a high-impact team delivering civil engineering solutions for substations in the power transmission sector. You will lead or support the on-site delivery and technical coordination of civil works for 66/132/220/400 kV substations and associated balance-of-plant. This role gives you responsibility from tender and design review through construction, commissioning, and handover — work that directly enables safe, reliable power for communities and industry.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as Resident Engineer (RE) or Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) for substation civil works on EPC / owner-led projects.
Supervise and inspect civil construction: earthworks, foundations, plinths, cable trenches and ducts, drainage, access roads, retaining structures, and hardstandings.
Review and coordinate civil drawings, IFC documents, and shop drawings with design, geotechnical, and electrical teams.
Monitor contractor performance, quality control, testing, and commissioning of civil components; enforce health, safety, and environmental requirements.
Administer site documentation: RFIs, NCRs, site instructions, progress reports, as-built records, and daily logs.
Support material acceptance, construction methodology, and soil management plans; liaise with surveyors and geotechnical consultants.
Assist in cost control, progress claims evaluation, and schedule tracking.
Contribute to continuous improvement, lessons learned, and value engineering initiatives.
A BACKGROUND THAT CONVINCES US
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent). Chartered/licensed engineers or candidates working toward registration are preferred.
Proven experience on substation or heavy industrial civil projects — ideally 7+ years for ARE, 10+ years for RE in transmission/substation environments.
Strong technical knowledge of foundations, reinforced concrete, earthworks, drainage, and geotechnical investigations.
Familiarity with power sector standards and codes (local regulations, IEC/IEEE where applicable).
Proficient with AutoCAD, structural detailing, and MS Office; experience with Revit, MicroStation, or civil design software is a plus.
Experience with EPC contract environments, site supervision, QA/QC procedures, and health & safety management.
Clear communicator, decisive problem-solver, and collaborative team player.
AN ENVIRONMENT THAT MOTIVATES YOU
Work with a committed multi-disciplinary team delivering projects that matter.
Structured mentorship for AREs and clear progression paths to RE and senior roles.
Supportive safety-first culture and hands-on opportunities to influence designs and construction methods.
Exposure to modern construction techniques, digital reporting tools, and professional development programs.
