Context

The Quantity Surveyor (Rolling Stock and Systems) will be responsible for managing the commercial and contractual aspects related to rolling stock (trains, locomotives) and associated railway systems (signaling, telecommunications, power supply, control systems, etc.). This role ensures value for money while ensuring compliance with contract terms and risk management for systems packages within a major railway project.

Missions/Main Duties

  • Prepare and manage cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts related to rolling stock and systems packages.
  • Review and verify contractors claims and progress payments
  • Track expenditure against budget and report on cost variances.
  • Assist in the preparation of cash flow projections and financial reports.
  • Administer contracts for rolling stock suppliers and systems contractors (signaling, SCADA, traction power, telecom, etc.).
  • Evaluate contractors’ claims, variations, and payment applications.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual and statutory requirements
  • Interface with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and stakeholders to provide commercial advice and support.
  • Prepare regular commercial reports and cost/value reconciliations.
  • Support risk management and value engineering processes

Profile/Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum (10) years’ experience in the required field of expertise for Railway or similar project
  • Professional membership (e.g., RICS, CIOB).
  • Proficiency in cost management tools and MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
